Carmen Kalo is a member of the Chicano Park Steering Committee since 1991. She volunteers throughout the year in civic activities at the Park, including park cleanups, provides educational tours, works with the homeless populations and paints murals. Kalo also gives regular tours of the park to colleges and universities.
Over the last twenty one year’s Carmen has also dedicated her time to the cultural preservation of the Mexicatl traditions of song and dance. As a way of life she also has taken it upon herself to continue to learn the oral traditional language of the Uto-Mexicatl people.
