Description
Part of a set of Xmas tree/rear-view mirror ornaments (Mario Kart Blue Shell can be seen here [link] ) and belonging to a series of Nintendo-themed sculptures recreated in a more realistic manner, which started with the Realistic Piranha Plant (seen here: [link] ) and its baby, and ending with a Baby Metroid in formaldehyde, which will be available in a few months.
It is a Super Mushroom, as seen in Super Mario Brothers. I used clay and acrylics and the final piece is about two inches.

I really do wonder how Mario can eat something like this with eyes. 
I always imagine these mushrooms as plants with strangely detailed eyes. Even though in the game they're design to look cute, in real life it makes it questionable why.
I tend to think that eating a Mario mushroom is like eating a fish head, though possibly tasting like a vegetable.
