  • english rain felt like the perfect metaphor — it’s gentle, persistent, and quietly transformative

  • aplin described writing much of the album in her bedroom, building early demos with minimal equipment before bringing them to producers.

  • mike spencer encouraged her to keep the arrangements sparse, focusing on acoustic textures and clear vocal takes.

  • several tracks began as voice memos, including early versions of home and salvation.

  • aplin said she rewrote please don't say you love me multiple times to keep the lyrics honest and conversational.

  • the cover of the power of love was recorded late in the process after the team realized her stripped back version fit the album’s tone.

  • the koko live tracks were recorded during a small london show meant to capture her early touring sound.
