I don't know if anyone else has ever had this feeling...but... I REALLY REALLY want to draw posters and make all this merchandise of ONE OUTS! I am truly terribly in love with the series... (ah, episode 14!)
BUT! W-who the heck would buy it or enjoy it?
Even though I keep telling people over and over to watch it, even though every single review on the series is always high, even though the few of my friends I managed to abduct into watching it with me all got hooked...I really know in my heart how FEW people actually know about it.
I really want to draw so much about it, but is it worth it? Since I am trying very hard this year to get a table at AX, I should focus on making things that will sell. Although I know I'll be really happy when I'm drawing it, what about after? It's a terrible feeling to watch people keep walking past untouched merchandise... Or maybe, "I like it, but I don't know where it's from..so sorry." It's only in a few months, and I don't know if I should waste
what little time I have making stuff for One Outs...
My logical side says of course not, and I'm sure everybody in their hearts agree that it is foolish to purposely do something that will hurt me. Ah, but my emotional side..really wants to! If only I drew faster, I could probably get away with doing both that and a safety catch. But with my speed, it would truly be risky.
I don't know, I don't know... what a dilemma....
It's very important for me to be able to make money, since I can't get jobs because I keep studying all over the place and no one wants to hire me "for a week or month"... My parents aren't paying for any of my stuff because I also have a younger brother and sister, so I have to support myself... I'm lucky I got a scholarship, but even that doesn't cover everything and lots of days I'm forced to eat cup noodles or nothing...
But if I don't get to draw what I like, then what's the point of anything? Drawing is tiring and hard work for me, but usually if I like it, then I can cope with it. But if I don't, then all I'm doing is just hurting my body and unnecessary stress, and I would rather die before I'm forced to fly home like some weak child again!
I always have the worst habit of liking unpopular things, and disliking the really popular ones! OTL I'M SO STUPID!!!
WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK??? (about what I should do, not about my stupidity...which is obvious..)
My friend suggested a third option which could potentially overpower the first two..which is if... the series becomes incredibly popular by the time AX hits!! Well, seeing as how it is already 15/25 finished and the popularity is still..quite hidden, I don't know how high of hopes I can have...
But I will still try anyways! As long as there is hope, I always want to share all the good things I find!
Here is a VERY VERY short review I found that may erase your fears of the series! www.baka-raptor.com/2008/11/27…
Contrary to popular belief, it's not "another sports show". If you liked Death Note, you'll like this! Only without the Misa and the Takada etc. It's 100% TESTOSTERONE.
O////A////O (ok, except for Big Mama...lol, but I dunno if she even counts XD)
And also, contrary to popular belief, Tokuchi isn't a knock-off Hiruma (from Eyeshield21).
Actually, ONE OUTS CAME FIRST
So Hiruma is a knock-off Tokuchi. You can watch it on Veoh.com! It's very good, but the moment it reaches episode 4 is when it becomes UNSTOPPABLE.Here is #1 to get you started!
I translated a few pages of the manga on LJ community, vol.17, because IT WAS A TOTAL TAKATOKU MOMENT!! IT WAS 100% CANON! WHY WOULD ANYONE NEED DOJINSHI ANYMORE WHEN THEY HAVE SUCH THINGS LIKE THIS?!>>>CLICK ME TO SEE, PLEASE!<<<
Here are also some sketches I was working on that I was thinking of making into posters...
(I took it with a camera, so all those weird colors..XD)Want to be a part?
