Vlad hates Rain because Rain is a constant reminder of his inadequacy to Raegen's bloodline, since they were the royal family before he stole the throne to Aldore. Rain despises Vlad, since Vlad tricked the former Emperor Quadis into destroying the Village of Sacher, leading to the deaths of Mirfas and Crimson, two friends he had made at that village while stranded. Vlad later killed all of Rain's friends, while badly injuring Rain, plunging Rain into a 20 year long rebellion, that ended when Vlad tore out Rain's left eye, and slaughtered almost every single other rebel, leaving Rain and Akstar alone. Vlad would later revive his brother Lasswell, brainwashing him into believing Rain and his friends had betrayed him, leading to a lot more grief and strife for Rain. And even after defeating Vlad, his actions and the consequences of them haunt Rain and his friends years later.
