In the shadowy alleys of Takhmanta, a notorious gang of shape-shifting monsters devised a chilling and clever method to prey on unsuspecting citizens. Using dark magic, these creatures were able to transform themselves and hide within the bottoms of ornate, decorative boxes sold in local shops. Their power allowed them to remain in this disguised state for months, patiently waiting for the moment when someone would buy the box and take it home.

Once night fell and the household was asleep, the monsters would emerge from their hiding place, silently devouring their new owners in the dead of night. After their grisly work was done, they would slip back into the box unnoticed, leaving no trace of their gruesome crimes. The next morning, with the owners mysteriously vanished or brutally slain, the box would either be inherited by a new family member or returned to the shop, ready for the next unsuspecting buyer. For a long time, these monsters evaded detection, moving from victim to victim, spreading fear and death throughout the city.

What made this gang particularly elusive was the sheer patience and cunning of their strategy. By hiding in plain sight and attacking infrequently, they avoided arousing suspicion. Deaths were often written off as unfortunate accidents or strange disappearances. The ornate boxes, which were highly sought after for their beauty, changed hands multiple times, with few connecting them to the sudden and violent deaths of their owners.

However, the gang’s undoing came as a result of their own greed. As the number of unexplained deaths following the purchase of these boxes increased, the city’s security forces began to notice a disturbing pattern. With growing pressure from the public and a string of recent fatalities, the investigators connected the dots. Suspicion grew around the strange magical properties of the boxes, and upon closer inspection, they discovered a complex enchantment hidden deep within the wood and fabric of the containers—a powerful spell that had masked the presence of the shape-shifters inside.

Once the curse was identified, the city's sorcerers worked to neutralize it. After weeks of investigation and tracking, a raid was launched, and 47 members of the gang were captured. These shape-shifting monsters, who had terrorized the city for so long, were finally brought to justice. Each one was sentenced to a lifetime of torture followed by imprisonment in the dreaded Labor Camp No. 4, a harsh facility designed for the most dangerous criminals in Takhmanta.

The fall of the gang sent shockwaves through the criminal underworld.
