" I wanted to be with you alone
And talk about the weather

You keep your distance with a system of touch
And gentle persuasion

I'm lost in admiration could I need you this much
should I need you this much "

today was raining all day long , so i've tried something new .This is not the usual dA material but , that's why i like it s lot .
a year ago when i was invited to join a photographer's site from all the japanese photographers that are studying photography ,i was completely devastated because there's so many awesomeness in there that i was just a stupid photographer thinking that i could made my way there.
the older ones in the site almost don't look over the new ones , only we can make the new ones step up by voting and "faving" them .
today i look over the site and i don't think i am that behind anymore. i am pretty happy that i can make good shots that even the most awesome guys in the site now fave me from time to time .
the rules over there is pretty much not using much photo editing and trying to make them as realistic as possible.
i am sorry that i can give the link to the site , but since it's an invited only you can't enter anyway .
i hope someday i could maybe get some of them to display their works in here .
They didn't like to share the works to the world though,i hear some of them complaining about how gaijin like to learn japanese and so , they always tried to do comments in japanese expecting them to reply , i don't reply in japanese to make this point clear .
that's no excuse for them to not like worldwide sites like "flick'r or deviantArt .
i am just happy that i have a place there now that people respect . it was not easy being a half-blood japanese making room ,people was a little rude in the beginning ,but that was over.

a :w00t: to the art !!!

The world of photography, to put it lightly, is a very hierarchal group. I never studied photography and basically learned by myself so I guess I could be called more 'ignorant' than 'naive'. But it never occurred to me that there were 'right' ways of doing things. Until now, I stick by the philosophy that there isn't -- there's just better ways of rendering and more effective ways of communicating through photos.

Still, later on, I realized that quite often photographers of a more mature and experienced calibre tend to not only be a stickler for rules but can also be very harsh critiques of the younger photogs. (I'm lucky enough that because I'm a girl, they don't see me as much of competition so whenever I chance upon a random photog on a photowalk, they usually try to 'teach me'.) They do tend to ignore me when I'm at a shop trying to buy equipment.

Nowadays, photography is more accessible to everyone. I believe that this a good thing. However, I think that some people mistake having a dSLR with being a photographer. Its like saying a person with a lead pencil is a sketch artist.

To some, photography has been cheapened by the introduction of dSLRs and photoshop. Older photographers may think that by imposing rules and adhering to a peking order -- they are preserving the integrity of photography. I think that is nothing short of archaic.

Still, art is art. Ultimately, critics will pass, biases will pass but time will be your ally. In time, they will accept you (half jap or no). In time, they will acknowledge your art (coz, they have to blind if they won't). And hopefully, in time -- they will outgrow their narrow-mindedness and give us (hobbyists -- the term I call myself HAHHA) a chance to mature too.

O_O Okay, that was one hell of a rant ^_^

p.s. What's your other half?

I hope it was unexpected in a good way. Sorry, I don't usually write so much in a comment and usually not in response to the Artist's Comments haha... I didn't even realize I had formed such a structured opinion on the subject already.

Yes, I agree. Some values never change. I believe in the value of tradition and I'm a very conservative person (in some respect) however, I believe that we should never do things just because we are used to doing it one way.

The job of every artist, whatever medium we choose to use, is to challenge pre-conceived ideas -- to show people a new way of looking at things. Its upto others to respond as they wish. Of course, this is a very grand (idealistic) idea. But, art would be useless otherwise.

Anyways. Thank you for replying to my UBER sized comment. More power to your creative mind! ^_^

This is beautiful, something different from your usual style! I love it, all your work is stunning  You have a knack for capturing the beauty of your country. And try not to compare yourself to others so much, you are you're own person, if your life and your art make you happy, then that's all that matters :aww:
