    “I don’t play any music?” Ratt replied, looking Seelie over with that same confused look everyone gave them. Doctors, the Den Mothers, friends, hells, even Qil. 

    They all gave Seelie that same look. 

    But you do! That stinging, stupid part of Seelie swore. Don’t you see, you all do! Can’t you hear it?

    I’m here, listening to you! I can’t stop listening to you! All your pain, your fear, your hatred of people like me. I hear it all. 

    But why can’t you hear me?!

    “Ah…” they said instead, covering up the insolent, unprofessional hurt before it could lead their dance. But, of course, Ratt didn’t mean any harm; he just didn’t know. Perhaps he hadn’t gotten to those lessons in school, or Seelie hadn’t differentiated music enough from Music. 

    No matter. Seelie would make do.

    They always did. 

    Seelie's gaze turned to the side towards the instruments sitting on the Den’s walls as the awkward silence settled over the conversation. Ratt wasn’t one of Seelie’s keeplings, but he was a kit, and Seelie loved kits all the same. So if Seelie couldn’t introduce Ratt to Music, perhaps they could introduce him to music.
