   Poor Coni wakes up one morning to a strange feeling in his mouth: something sharp against his tongue. He blinks awake, bringing his paw up to his face–

   ‘Only for his fingers to feel skin, not fur. 

   Coni nearly screamed the Den down, bringing the caretakers running. He kept screaming until someone shoved a mirror in his face, confirming that his eyes weren’t mummy-red, he’d grown in bunny teeth, not fangs, and his skin wasn’t rotten. 

   He still had a bald patch on his face, which nobody could explain, but it looked normal enough. Eventually, the caretakers shuffled back to their early morning tasks, and the other kits in the room grumbled and turned back over to sleep. 

   And Coni was left to sit there, staring at the ceiling, until the dawn.
