Voyage to the Unknown: Fan ArtTHE CONCEPT"The idea is to browse through a category or sub-category that you don't necessarily visit frequently, or that you browse the least, and collect some of the art you find stands out! The point of this is to challenge ourselves and discover new art in the process!" - Mrs-DurdenDon't forget to use the tag #thevoyage!I have chosen FAN ART for my Voyage to the Unknown. Can I draw Anime/Cartoons well? This question is always being asked on DeviantART--mostly by young, aspiring artists who really think they want to become a great, professional anime/manga/cartoon artist when they get "good enough".The matter of the fact is that, no matter how much you try to be good at a style, regardless of how much you practice and how often you draw it--it'll never look right.UNLESSyou study realistic form and proportion first.Learn how the human body really looks and really works before you try to stylize it.The best way to do this is to find out if there are any Figure Study classes being held in your town or city. A lot of places will have these sessions where anyone can come in at a certain time and draw nude models that will sit and pose for any artist who attends. These are perfect for learning the realistic human form. As long as you draw them as you see them and try to figure out why things are the way they are.In short, figure studies are how artists dissect a human being wit

A Pepper in Every HomeI'm in Love: It isn't just the incredible honor of having a Traditional Pepper drawing by Stanley " Artgerm " Lau, which in itself keeps me and everyone around me gazing in to her incredibly beautiful eyes.. ... No, that's not the only reason. Owning a Pepper is a real treasure. This International Woman of Mystery has captured the hearts of some of today's most highly regarded digital artists. Her creator, Artgerm is easily the most popular artist on the Internet. His Gallery is filled with blockbuster art pieces. He achieves position #1 on the home page of deviantART with almost every submission to the site:Artgerm :
Long Exposure TutorialThis tutorial is for everyone who loves the magic of night photography, surreal effects, use of lights, and long exposures even at daylight! Or just for everyone who wants to try this section of photography. I used some of my own pictures as examples for the topics I am talking about. Every picture has the EXIF/camera data, so you can see how I took this photo!Photography at nightThe easiest way and also the cheapest to get long exposures is to take photos at night. The whole photography is a triangle: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_fxbalKKB9mw/ScJbsMEPLLI/AAAAAAAAAlo/fV7m4syiOvw/s320/Exposure+Triangle.gif To get the right exposure, shutter speed, aperture and ISO are the main parts. If you have less light, open the aperture and ISO and shutter speed are constant. If you use a higher ISO you can keep your shutter speed and your aperture, and if you use a slower shutter speed (longer exposures) you can keep the ISO and the aperture! And this is what we need for night photography!I
Armature Meets FaceHow I Art Doll - Armature Meets Face- Click here to go back to the Table of Contents -- Updated 2018-My tiny cat otter doll next to my large 3 feet long dragon doll!- Starting the Armature -I like to sculpt my doll's faces out of Sculpey Premo! polymer clay. On a doll like my kitsune or harlequin kittens, I used about 1/5 to 1/6 of an 8oz bar. That's about 2oz, which is a size you can buy some polymer clay packages in, convenient! Now that I make my dolls with soft paws and soft ears, I use even less clay.I start by making a sketch of the actual size my doll will be, this helps me measure the wires and fit everything together. Photo references of real animals help me a ton with anatomy and sculpting.I like to use a combination of aluminum wir
What is Loli ?What is Loli!?What is the difference between Lolicon and Lolita!?Thanks deviantART for banding our LoliFansClub, Now I have to explain this all over again!First! Loli is indeed what deviantART call as underage girls,BUT under age girls or Loli art, ARE NOT 100% CHILD PORN GRAPHICS!! lots people always mistakes the meaning of this word, and think everything that is called Loli is related of child porn! which is NOT TRUE!! here is an example of Loli which is done of the LoliFansClub owner ZiyoLingIf may I ask, which part of this Loli ART is EROTIC?If you're gonna say something like :"OMG she's wearing mini skirt..its too temptation...!!"Then I would say... :"LIKE I TOLD YOU SO...stay away from porns... even its not child porn, it ruins your innocent mind!!"deviantART is filled of many Loli arts, that are just not being notify as a Loli, such as Anime, Naruto characters are even underage, Original Characters that we have cre
How to Suggest a Daily Deviation ( DD )Although there are other news articles on this subject, it is still unclear to a lot of people how and what to suggest for a DD.i will guide you through the process step-by-stepWhat kind of images should i suggest?no absolute answer here, but you should suggest something that stands out from the crowd. Something with either an unique concept, quality or beauty.Browsing the DD section for a while could give you an idea, though art and taste is subjective. It is ok to suggest a friends piece, but don`t do it just because its a friend, do it if the piece is excellent.Who am i gonna suggest it to and what should i write?http://help.deviantart.com/18/ has the list of all the gallery directors and what category they are "attached" to, all you need to do is check the category the image is in, and take it from there.Under the image you want to suggest is a thumb code ( under page views )copy that.Lets say you want to suggest for a daily deviation, you copy the thumb co
Resin CastingArtist's Toolbox WeekUsing resin in your artworkHey guys! I’ve been wanting to write a tutorial on resin casting/pouring for a bit now (and I promise one is in the works!), but in the meanwhile, I think it would be good to explain what epoxy resin is, safety concerns, and of course, how AWESOME it is!I started using epoxy resin in my paintings almost two years ago after being introduced to the resin paintings of Bruce Riley during ArtPrize 2013. I was initially drawn to finding a way to achieve visual depth on a 2 dimensional surface. Now, of course it is more than possible to depict spatial depth by using perspective, but my paintings aren’t trying to depict a realistic sense of perspective. Rather, I wanted to find a way to layer color and patterns in a shallow space and doing so without overwhelming the image. The only way to achieve that would to be somehow work in multiple layers, and thus resin was the answer! Most recently, I’ve started cast
