The weather had been rather shitty over the course of the last week and May took the first chance to work out in the outdoor arena again. Not that the indoor arena was ugly or tiny or stuffy quite the contrary. But the redhead preferred the crisp breeze blowing down from the fields or the sounds of birds and the wind in the trees.
Also it was a fair lot easier to work Leitha through some dressage routines outside. The Obertaurer mare was still struggling with the precision and collection that dressage required of her. She'd rather race through the woods and plunge elbow-deep into the freezing water of the shallow creek that runs through the forest.
Considering that it was no surprise that as soon as Yanma bounded around the corner of the stable on Witchcrafts back, the stallion nearly skidding on the wet ground with his huge strides, Leitha stopped dead in her tracks, ears pricked and nostrils blown wide and watched Yan and Craftie shoot past the arena, the man laughing merrily.
"The devil takes the hindmost!" May could barely comprehend Yan's shout when a wide grin spread over her face and before she noticed what she was doing she had already whipped Leitha around and just as willingly the mare had jumped the fence around the outdoor arena like no biggie and followed her father towards the muddy Cross Country track.
