A lovelier depiction of winter could not be asked for, and what grace can be discerned despite the season's harshness. A closer look at winter breath -finish- instantly yields appreciation towards *jurithedreamer's proficiency with watercolour, maintaining an eloquent balance between soft, silken forms and rich textures. Wonderfully captivating! ( Suggested by EternalFallacy and Featured by snowmask )

Not too much texture at all; I believe you captured the crystalline nature of ice quite well!

This is very lovely. I love how you did her hair and clothing, it has got a lot of volume and flow. Her headpiece is stunning - the earring maybe a bit stiff, but everything so very very delicate!
Her face is simply brilliant - the highlights, the colours, the expression, your overall technique. Could it be that her right shoulder (that we see left) is a bit off? Or is it just the pose? The lighting on the skin is beautiful, even though I feel you could have used less yellow and more violet/red and white. But it contrasts nicely with the background this way. The background itself is simply great. The amount of texture is just right, no empty spaces - and those tiny snowflakes are so gorgeous.
Too bad the blue-green doesn't scan well, but it is awe-inspiring as it is!

There definitely aren't too many textures, on the contrary I think they really make this stand out. Especially the white grainy "lines" (perhaps done with sea salt? Or maybe crayon?) give this a wonderful sense of space here, it's like she's vanishing to the sky. Moreover, the texture makes me think of northern lights and snowfall, so I can really feel the wintery atmosphere.

My favorite part of this painting has to be her skin, the cold shades of blue really make her glow and in spite of the cold colors this painting feels rather warm.

This is absolutely beautiful. Winter is often portrayed as curel and harsh, but your painting gives her a gentle, whimsical feel. :3

How do you get that texture? If you don't mind me asking...

:iconjurithedreamer:

it's mostly paper texture,
it the most rough Fabriano paper.
on this paper, you just dump a color,
then it makes a great texture for you.
problem is, it's really hard to get detailed line on this paper.

if you are talking about the white lines,
it's just really dry white paint with dead acrylic brush.

hope it helps!
