the last kiss by jurithedreamer the last kiss by jurithedreamer
watercolor, acrylic 2008.3

I didn't achieve any of my intention or goal on this piece.
it is sad. really sad and pathetic as an artist.

originally, I inspired by Klimt's "the Kiss" of course.

Breathtaking! You're so talented with water colours, and I love the pattern of her dress. The way you made their hands is something I noticed right away, it reminds me a lot of the way Michelangelo tended to make his. Very soft, very angelic. ))

I love Michelangelo (or any other Renaissance artists) drawings,
so that's great to hear!
thanks

I think you're being much too hard on yourself! This is a beautiful piece, and I could tell it was inspired by Klimt even before I read the description :). I think you've painted the faces and skin beautifully, especially the woman's. Her dress also looks really good, and I love the flowers at the bottom. This is no where near pathetic or sad!!

Beautiful. I thought of Art Noveau before I read your author's comments, and I think you did a great job with this, you incorporated Klimt's style into your own. You could maybe work on the background a bit, maybe make it more uniform, and if you wanted to make it more Klimt-y you could invest in some goldleaf... But really I think you should be proud of this piece, although it's obviously frustrating when you can't paint what's in your head. I love the concept behind this, and how the little bits of Klimt-style texture are peeling off him as he fades away. The emotions are wonderful, I can feel her sadness and his peace but at the same time their love and happiness at being able to be with each other for his last minutes on earth. Extremely well done.

Their expressions are a lovely match, her sense of yearning and his quiet serenity -- which works well with the juxtaposition of his stony grey and her warm peachiness. There's a rich sense of solidity to their faces and his hand (though perhaps less solid elsewhere). I feel I could know them, and rather wish I did.

You're too hard on yourself! I think it's a very nice picture. I especially love how you did her dress and where their arms are intertwined. Very nice. ^^

How can you say this is sad and pathetic? It's beautiful! It's so moving and beautifully painted! If I could be a fraction as good as you, I'd be the happiest artist in the world. :)
