Calumet inspired by the US. Native Americans by juhele Calumet inspired by the US. Native Americans by juhele
This calumet - ceremonial pipe, or so called "peace-pipe" was made by me as I was about 15 years old. The pipe bowl is made of two types of clay, decorated with simple hemp twine and feathers I collected on a sea shore during holiday in Italy. I was told they are from white-tailed eagle (Haliaeetus albicilla) — also called the sea eagle. Stem is wooden and hollow - of course. I used hot iron wire to burn it through. Looks rather amateur but I still wanted to share it with you. Some time ago I gave it to my friend to use it as a decoration for one exhibition so I do not own it anymore :-)

PS: as I non smoker I never try it as a real pipe :-)
