Sorry guys for my absence. I have been drawing tons. You can see my newest art on my FB PAGE

Reason for absence: Our house partially burnt down. Yup...

We had to stay in a guest house for 4 months while they fixed it up. No computer there. We're back now, thank goodness. Home sweet home.
Got lots of work cut out for us cleaning wise (contents of home which are all in boxes and covered in soot).
As for our welfare, we're fine. It was a big scare as you can imagine. Hubby was a little hurt, but it was superficial compared to what could have happened.
What happened you ask? We don't know. Everybody seems to agree it was an electrical short at one of the wall plugs. We were home when it happened, so when we saw the smoke we tried to put out the fire with wet blankets. It spread unbelievably quickly, so we called the fire department and they took care of the rest.

So here I am, back again and drawing.

I also got a Wacom Intuos Pro :D :D :D  I literally jumped up and down when it arrived. When Inktober 2018 is done you can be sure I'll be uploading some digital stuff.

Hope you all are well.

Thanks for the continued support.

I hope the new year is treating everyone well. Just here to say, thank you for the continued support and have a good one!
I'll be adding some more traditional art to my gallery in the coming months. There is also another colouring commission in the works, so keep your eyes peeled. If there's anything specific you'd like to see, let me know and I'll see about it. :)

Take care

I sometimes get asked whether someone can use my art for this or that.  Here are my rules:

You may use my art in almost anything that is not-for-profit. Your blog, a forum, an avatar, wallpaper, flyers at your school and yes, youtube videos. The only thing I ask is that you please leave my tiny, out of the way signature in there and link to my deviant art page in the description so that other people can find me.
Exceptions to the above rule: Please do not use my art in anything questionable, like a porn movie. I'm not sure how that can be managed, but hey, this is the internet. I've seen weirder things :)
• Do not edit my work without permission. Feel free to send me a note.
• Do not sell my work. It's mostly fan art, anyway, and it's illegal to sell fan art without the creator's permission since it is their intellectual material.
• Do not pass my work off as your own. It's sad. And guess what? You CAN draw. "ANYONE can draw, it just takes time and practice to do it well", as my art teacher used to say.

Feel free to send me a link to where you used my art and I'll check it out. :)

To everyone who has ever gone to the trouble of asking me for permission: Thank you for asking, you are awesome.

Q: Do you take commissions?
A: Yes, but it depends on how busy I am whether I'll accept a job. Send me a note and I'll get back to you. Since becoming a mom my time is not my own anymore, so I have to plan and put time aside to draw.

Q: What tools do you use?
A: Digital: Photoshop and tablet.  Traditional, I use Faber Castell pencils, putty eraser, normal eraser and tissue to blend.

Q: What's your process?
A: Digital process currently is: to plan and draw the sketch. This is the most important part of the drawing process. No matter how well you ink and colour, if the foundation is flawed the building will fall down. Think about the rule of thirds in photography, depth, interest and so forth. I generally use references. There are some great stock photographers and models on DA. Once I'm happy with the sketch, I'll do the line art on a new layer. And then the colours are done on more separate layers. Finally textures and effects are added.    I'm hoping to get Paint Tool Sai sometime, I hear it's great for line art.

Q: Have any tutorials?
A: I am planning on doing more in the future, but for now you can check out what I currently have on Sharenoesis.
You'll find things like how to draw a face, hair, eyes, etc. Enjoy.

Thank you for your continued support. This community has made me a better artist and I hope to continue to improve greatly in the future with your support and helpful critiques.

Just to let you know I'm still alive. :D

I've been busy with another book cover over December and January. It's done, just need permission to submit here. Meanwhile I made a wee SasuSaku fanart for you. I have so many ideas for new art projects! But oh, to find the time.  We're looking to immigrate to New Zealand actually. (I'm going to be a Hobbit, yay!) Wish us the best, it's a long and stressful process.
Meanwhile I'll see if I can get some more fanart up for you. Gotta keep those skills honed.

I've found some lovely process videos on youtube:
Sycra is worth a look :…
And Aaron Blaise used to work for Disney :…
Jaw-dropping, inspiring work. I feel myself improve by just watching these masters at work.
Before watching some of these YT videos I never realized that one should warm up before drawing (and you warm up for drawing BY drawing, lol). Never too old to learn, hey?

Let me know how your year has been so far? How are you improving your art? Have any art tutorials or videos to link?

And lastly....
I noticed I've hit 100 K page views. Yay! Thank you for all the support over the years.

Love you guys!

Hi guys

Long time no speak! This is just to let you all know I'm still here. I often check DA and appreciate all the comments, favourites and watches! Thank you for your support.

Sorry for not submitting new art. It's hard to believe I haven't drawn in over a year! Who knew a baby could keep you so busy. And when I'm not busy with him I just want to sleep to be honest, lol.  But it seems the worst of the post-pregnancy fatigue is over, so hopefully things will get  back to normal and I'll have the energy to do normal things - like draw! Oh, and did I mention? I finally have a new computer (actually a laptop). It's quite powerful, so no more lagging in Photoshop! Yay!

I've got a commission in the works (another book cover), so once that is done, I'll feed your fan-hunger again. Sasusaku anyone? ;P

Have a great December and travel safely.

Now if you look at the title you think : Hey, isn't that a good thing!? It's not that kind of bully unfortunately. And by now you've guessed it. It's our dog, Tesha, English Bull Terrier. Just passed away suddenly on Friday at the age of 5 and a half. We're devastated. I know some people in real life who would say (and have said) "But it's just a DOG", while mangling their hair in an attempt to grab dog-related information they may be missing from their brains. I don't think the info is in there. It's in the heart.  Her sudden death was due to a slow progressive heart failure, which we were unaware of. The end was quick.

I just wanted to share a vid I made about her.
A bit of background: We bought her at 6 wks. At about 14 weeks we knew she was deaf, but we'd fallen in love and there was no way we were giving her back (they discounted us since we'd paid the full price for a purebred).
And our journey began to share our lives with a deaf dog. She's perfectly normal and her lack of hearing became normal in our house. Other people would walk down the street and call their dogs and I'd be stunned, because I'd forgotten other dogs can hear.
So we taught her a few tricks. Sadly we didn't manage to take videos of her recent tricks : Fetch, come, search, "hold it" (food on her nose til we say yes)

Go easy on me, it's my first ever video!

Take care

A 'Little' News

Journal Entry: Thu Feb 7, 2013, 5:03 AM
So a while back hubby and I said: "We're ready for a major change." We were looking at emigration and seriously starting to consider it. We thought "This is the change, we're gonna migrate. We're ready for a new phase in our lives after the deaths of my parents."
I think G-d overheard us, cos ZAP we're pregnant. :XD: Been trying for 6 years (no, honestly, we gave up hope a few years ago.) Not quite the change we had in mind, but it works.

So to those who care, if I'm quiet on here, please be patient, I'll post some art again when I feel better. This pregnancy business isn't for sissies!

Oh yeah, and any prayers for the little one would be appreciated. :)

Remember how excited I was that my one of my Zero pics was featured in a group a while back? Well, imagine what I was like when I saw that "Hinata attacks" got a DD. I was literally jumping up and down. Poor hubby probably thought "she finally went off her rocker." I smiled for 2 days straight and am probably not quite normal yet, lol. THANX to everyone for favs and comments! Will reply to everything eventually!
Well, this DD changes things of course. It ups the bar. Every serious piece from now on has to better than the one before. I'm scared and excited at the same time: what will the future hold? Guess we'll have to work hard and see!

I would like to thank my mom, dad, husband, my dog, the oxygen in the air... ;P
In all seriousness, I thank G-d for giving me a wee talent that goes mostly unused and is therefor still in its infancy. I'll try harder! And thanks to all my watchers and everyone who always favs and comments. Sorry for not always getting back to each and every one of you. I appreciate you guys!

Saw this poll about the weirdest and coolest dreams people have ever had. Here's mine. Feel free to share yours as well! :)

Fell from a really high building, experienced the whole thing in sort of slow motion, the air, the weightlessness, the ground coming closer. Remember feeling that thing you feel when you know what's happening / about to happen and the people watching know the same thing, but everyone is powerless to stop it. The ground rushed closer. I braced for impact. Felt myself fall on my right side, the ground crushing into my side and I felt the wetness - it was oh so very wet - from my brains splattering out. Then I was dead and awake. The right side of my head (the side on which I had "fallen") was tingling with pins and needles. Weirdest thing ever when half your head is asleep.

My comrades and I were climbing a mountain in a blizzard. We were all going to die if we didn't find cover soon. Higher up, ahead of us, peeking through the massive amount of snow that covered 80% of it, we could see an abandoned guard station, a rock bunker that would provide shelter. Then I whipped open my wings and flew up, easily soaring on the wind, showing my comrades the easier routes. Flying dreams are the best, don't you think!?

Icon for Hire - "Iodine" >>>…

I say I wanna be healthy, but I turn up the noise
The IV drips a steady stream of poison
I think I'm just in love with the feeling
Break my bones so I can feel them healing

"Crazy" is, I believe, the medical term
When we wanna recover, but we don't wanna learn
Keep breaking what's been fixed a thousand times
And gimme some more of that iodine

I can't make reality connect
I push till I have nothing left
But if we want to wake up,
Why we still singin' these lullabys?
I'll run in circles till I crash
One day these steps will be my last
But if we want to wake up,
Why we still singin' these lullabies?

I say I wanna be happy, but I quickly forget
Will I sabotage all the good I've got left?
Depression's like a big fur coat,
It's made of dead things but it keeps me warm

"Crazy" is, I believe, the medical term
When we wanna recover, but we don't wanna learn
Keep breaking what's been fixed a thousand times
And gimme some more of that iodine

I can't make reality connect
I push till I have nothing left
But if we want to wake up,
Why we still singin' these lullabies?
I'll run in circles till I crash
One day these steps will be my last
But if we want to wake up,
Why we still singin' these lullabies?

I don't like pain, but I bring it to life
I don't like scars but I am good with a knife
I don't like tears when I'm starting to cry
And then I realize I'm destroying my life

I do this to myself
I do this to myself
Stop blaming someone else
We do this to ourselves

I can't make reality connect
I push till I have nothing left
But if we want to wake up,
Why we still singin' these lullabies?
I'll run in circles till I crash
One day these steps will be my last
But if we want to wake up,
Why we still singin' these lullabies?

So if we want to wake up,
Why we still singin' these, why we still singin' these lullabies?

It's not just that I don't do Xmas and people spam facebook with merry xmas...
It's more like everyone's mood is:
cheery, happy, skippy :iconhappyskipplz:
and my mood is more like:
"it's the end of the world" :iconmiseryplz:

That said, I do hope everyone has a great time with their families. Make the most of it, cos they won't be there forever. Make them feel special, especially your parents. :) Love them, hug them and listen to them. I recommend carrying this "family business" through the new year. It shouldn't be limited to one day. I'm sure many of you agree.
