Project Runway Finale Part 1 | #CatwalkChallenge
For the first part of the finale, the remaining designers had to show three complete looks that belong/will belong in their final collection.
About the Design
My inspiration for my collection is nostalgia: memories and things I used to love. The color palette consists of jewel tones (along with their shades and tints) and metallics.
This specific outfit's inspiration is Japan, since I got obsessed with Japanese culture in middle school! I was inspired, specifically, by kimonos.
The long skirt on this outfit overlaps the top, hugs the thighs, and then bells out at the knee. The shirt/top is geometric from the front, and then scoops in the back (which has boning like a corset). I took the reddish jewel tone for the top, and used a terra cotta color on the skirt, to go along with the sea-green of the purse. Also, the tassel around the waist represents my pastime of reading books (constantly): it adds a touch of the Japanese inspiration, and also references to the tassel on a bookmark.
The other two designs can be seen here...
Styling and Accessories
For this model's styling, I let her hair fall straight and then curl in naturally at the end. Her bangs curl out on one side, to match with the theme throughout the collection. She has a natural colored lip and her eyeliner curls around to meet with her eyebrow, to go along with the Asian-inspiration.
