My Bio

J.R. Slattum is a self-taught artist, his work entering the surreal world of innerspace. After a near-death experience in 2007, inspired by a personal enlightenment, Slattum fell into a world of paint. Using the point of the paintbrush as a focus, he views the process of creating as his meditation. His subjects gravitate towards the inner realms of psychology, philosophy, and the nature of being. Through his art, he invites his viewers to travel within. Working from his studio in Portland, Oregon, his work is collected internationally.

Shroom T-Shirt

Now, I'm not sure if everyone on DA who follows my work knows, but I've been working on a special project.... I've designed a t-shirt from one of my fans' favorite paintings... the shroom piece- "Food of Gods".The original oil painting was a tribute to fellow mind-traveler- Terrence McKenna- and his book "Food of the Gods- Search for the Tree of Knowledge". Well, and of course- a tribute to the Shroom God that we visit on these special trips.Recent studies on Psilocybin Mushrooms (aka "MAGIC"), have found many great benefits from their use.
