This is really great (not for the knight, I suppose). I love how you've captured the essence of a bug exoskeleton (reminds me of a grasshopper) but the meanness and angularity of a reptile. The scale is great. I also love the foreground/background environment, and how it gives a nice feel of depth.

My only critique, and it is minor, is the sharp transition on the chest of the creature directly in front of its arm. I guess it confuses me a little in terms of anatomy--if I'm reading it right, the chest continues into the light-colored section, but the transition seems to abrupt.

In any case, great work. I love it.

hah yes i think the knight has some things to worry about! Thank You for your kind words and i am really appreciative and im glad you like my painting...and i agree with you 100% about his chest i got lazy and did not finish detailing that part out to be honest and just got sick of staring at the same painting for 12 hours haha...I figured it was time to move on to a new painting...its hard when you spend so much time on something to no finish everything but i guess i should have... no excuses and just finished that last bit off(and a few other things i gave up on) but yeah i always appreciate a good critique :)

No excuse for laziness! Just kidding ;)

I have plenty of projects that aren't finished that I got tired of--so I know the feeling.

In fact, I just finished a design project (not posted yet) that was on deadline and it was an interesting feeling knowing that it didn't matter if certain things were as detailed as I wanted--I had to have everything finished. So some elements I never even double checked!

I say all that to say this: I could learn to be a little more like you and actually finish projects sometimes, even if some areas aren't 'perfect' to my standards... :)

yeah Its not good to stress too much.. just make sure you enjoy the project and get your point across i guess :) I have a problem i feel that i detail too much and try not to do that  anymore so i can accomplish more so i don't worry too much about detail and dont zoom in on the canvas unless i have too, have fun and get the point across!!

If this was a MtG card, the flavor text would probably read, "I'm gonna need a bigger boot..."  That is INTIMIDATING.  If you had the power to bring your art to life, I think we'd all be in a bit of a pickle.  Haha  Looks amazingly fantastic!!

My gosh, a great deal of work must have gone into it and it shows. What a stunning piece. All the textures, environmental details and the intricacy of the creature's exoskeleton work really well together. You chose a lovely natural palette and worked in great shading and highlights. The little warrior for scale gives an idea of the power and ferocity of the bug. Finally, the background details, the way the landscape softens and loses definition, helps focus the attention while giving perspective and scale. Altogether, an inspirational piece.

You're most welcome. Your work deserves more appreciation. It's obvious the amount of time and effort that goes into it and that gets major respect from me. The attention to detail is awe inspiring and your environments are beautiful. Environmental work in particular impresses me because of the sheer scope of imagination, vision and planning that goes into it.  I hope to see more in your gallery in future and thank you for sharing!
