Blender Themes
Blender UI colors (and other aspects) can be configured using themes.
Themes settings are contained within XML files that can be edited by hand (if you are a glutton for punishment) or using Blender User Preferences Window, Themes tab.
With the Themes tab you can:
select an existing theme
reset to the Blender Default theme
customize the current theme
load a new theme
save the current theme with a new name
delete the current theme
Select an existing theme
At the top left corner of the User Preferences Window there is a combobox labeled Presets. Click it to open the list and select the theme you prefer. Beware that if you have done modifications to your current theme and have not saved theme, they will be unrecoverably lost if you select another theme.
Reset to the Blender Default theme
Just press the Reset to Default Theme button at the bottom of the window.
Customize the current them

The Astro-Map Tutorial
In response to a couple of requests, I've put together a video tutorial that can walk you through how to make a terrain map out of an astronomical object like a nebula, the Milky Way, or another galaxy. I suggest you watch it with closed captions on.
I hope you like it!

Making A Living at DAZ3D
This was updated on 2/21/18 to reflect changes in our market.
Every so often someone asks if this is possible, how hard this is, and how to do it.  I'm writing this journal entry so I can just link them back to it instead of typing the same post or forum PM repeatedly.
I'm putting these down in the order they are usually asked, not in the order I think they should be asked.
Q: How much money can I make?
A: I make an extremely good living for the Western USA selling in the Daz market.  I have a lightly used car that's paid off and I own my own home in a high-income part of the country.  I also sell at Renderosity, but I would describe that as a "hobby" or "bonus" income; it would be hard to do without it, but it's not what pays the rent every month, either.  For the most part you will make back according to the time you put in.  Only a few top artists get into six figures in American dollars in our market, and they are the biggest names who s

7 Blender Features All Beginners Need to Know
Over the last year using Blender I've found some really useful shortcuts and features. so I though I would compile a short list of some of the most useful ones that I use almost everyday. This article is geared towards beginners but more experienced users could find they missed a few of these. Enjoy!

1. Hover Copy/Paste
This one is the best of them all, if you read any of this read this! If you hover over a value or color and press CTRL C it will copy the value! No need to click on it and select it, just hover!

2. Random Node
The random node is an output from the "Object Info' node found under the "Input" folder. The random node has unlimited possibilities. In the example I linked the random output to a color ramp node with 3 colors, then plugged that into an emission shader. And as you can see it randomly selects one of the colors for each object.

Sweet? why? are there revenges that are not sweet? MUHAHAHA.

This summer, when I was talking about Cycles I was viciously trolled on RuntimeDNA forums by some oxygen-wasters acting as upholders of the True Poser Way.

Now, people over there are salivating on SuperFly (aka Cycles).

Nothing is sweetier than being able to say/write... "I told you so..." <Mads Mikkelsen-when-he-is-eating smile on my face>.
