WD.issue4.Pg18.Szekeres by Jozef-Szekeres WD.issue4.Pg18.Szekeres by Jozef-Szekeres
Originally painted in 1994, This was interior artwork for the forth issue Pg18 for the Original WaveDancers comic series. The art features Raenafel with Barmek and Sleia. This is the moment when Raenafel fully reveals herself to Barmek and Sleia after being in suspended animation via the wrap-stuff-cocoon since their childhood. This is also the completion of the recognition that started between Raenafel and Barmek. Raenafel was like a positive reflection of the dark Winnowill.

The painting of the black hair was a little revelation to me, as it became freer to work with then the outlined animation shapes of the other colored hair styles in the series. I eventually went on to understand that I could have that freedom with all hair, no matter the color base. It was early painting days in '93-'94.

Wow. So the tall black haired girl is not Winowill, then? Dude, that's weird. I was totally thinking she was. I never saw the Wave Dancers comics so I was a little confused for a moment. You said she was a good person?

See this image I like, dispite their gaunt set up, most of it isn't as noticiable here. Instead I see the features I love. Those wide exotic eyes, that long long hair! I dunno exact words but this image just embraces what is nice about this style.

Cool, I like the shortend name of Raenafel as Rae, very cute..might have to use it. :-)

I think the volume of her waist is more like two hands around, and yes she is very small in the waist, but I'd not say skinny, as she has curves.

She indeed has curves; and they are shown a lot more due to her small waist :)

The little golden character is No-wing, a Preserver. To know what a preserver is and their function, I'd suggest you to read the EQ books. This particular preserver lost his wings in an ancient altercation/accident, and is thus called No-wing. No-wing is Reanafels companion, and has been guarding her cocooned body for a very long time, so seeing her now out of the "wrap-stuff" it's too exciting for him, he has to jump at her in joy.

In the new series I'm now doing with Julie Ditrich, he has been retooled and renamed to be No-fin (as he's now in "mer" form). Still as cute as ever.

I love the flow of Reanefel's hair! I, too, always felt sorry for Sleia. . . but I think it's better this way!

Thank you. Her hair is freshly washed here..

Sleia is a lovely character, but Barmek was destined to be and recognised with Raenafel

I always found hers and Winnowill's hair the most gorgeous of the whole series. I really liked the idea of petite Barmek with tall Raenefel, but felt sorry for Sleia. ^_^ I still think Sleia was very tomboy!

Thank you. The hair design for Raenafel and Winnowill sort of evolved into the next big thing in hair treatment for me. The other characters hair was more "animation" in design, and relied heavily on the outline shaping.

Sleia was created to be a tomboy character, and not the prettiest of the elves, but there are moments of beauty with her in the series.
