if you follow my tumblr your know this week i have been doing a few Gurren Lagann sketches i pretty much have been watching that anime every night 
its very interesting and action packed 
. the title cards in between the breaks are a very nice touch to the actual animation of the show its bold comic book style is very striking. 
i also rewatched the awesome Gurren pony animation www.youtube.com/watch?v=fUovke… remembered

Vision
Originality Technique ImpactAlmost everyday, I travel across Deviant-ART where I CONSTANTLY spot fan made artwork of My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic. The artworks I always see usually either take one of two artistic routes:
1) Make the art style of the drawing extremely similar to that of the original series without adding any sort of difference to distinguish it from the television series and make it look more original.
2) Make it a picture with an art style and techniques on the verge of truly realistic which while not a bad thing and does not necessarily make the picture terrible, it has started to arise much more over this site as the popularity and fandom of this series continue to rise.
Jowybean's image however clearly shows that it has somehow managed to take a rare 3rd alternate path from the two previously mentioned in my above short list. While it has retained the traditional style of the animated series (Too an extent though as you may notice that this artwork has much more 'flare' and 'freedom' (Is that the right word to use?), the pen work used to illustrate this image is arguably what stands out the most.
The style resembles that of graffiti artwork and really helps the picture to stand out among several other of the millions of images that have been produced on this website. There are also subtle elements of anime that have been incorporated into the image (For example, take notice of Octavia's eye style, the background of this image and the angle that this image has been portrayed at).
The colours of this image mainly revolve around and relate to the basic colour of blue (i.e. navy, light blue, purple, pink) although there also some other colours such as brown and grey that have been added too.
The picture is also extremely imaginative with my focus especially placed on the background which is riveting with well placed musical artwork. It gives a feeling of craziness and beauty at the same time.
While I am not a brony, I will not lie that this picture is still very good and by far one of the most independent pony images that I have been able to view across Deviant-ART over the past year.
