Working with Papa Joe by Amanda

Amanda was one of my assistants before I retired from the motion picture business (camera department).  I always enjoyed sharing knowledge with my assistants, and on this day I was showing her how a lens creates a circular image onto a surface (onto a frame of film, for instance).  

On that day I also talked to her about who artists used the "camera lucinda" to assist in their drawings and paintings.  The book in the image, Secret Knowledge, by David Hockney, gives an in depth explanation and has scores of examples of paintings by the masters who (he proves) used this technique.

When I got home that evening I ordered the book and had it sent to Amanda.
