A little something for :iconbricksandstones: to cheer him up - his character, Sigilamisa, a fierce Berber woman who will stop at nothing to fulfil her brother's dying wish. Which apparently involves guarding some sacks of grain in an unidentified cellar-like place...

I must say i enjoyed drawing this immensely, but i'm not sure i did he justice. Must try again with a less complex perspective to get a better view of her face...

Wow, this is just overwhelmingly good! I know it may sound as if I am exaggerating but honestly, this is just amazing - the perspective, slightly from behind and slightly above - is fascinating and you did great job doing lighting and shadows - her outfit is very well executed as well - it is just beautiful! One of the best things about this piece is also her face and expression - this is exactly how I imagine her! Lastly, the sacks of grain make a perfect background to her story! I am honestly so flattered that you decided to portray her - honestly, I am not even sure how to express it in a simple DA comment. I was in a hospital for the last few days and viewing this after returning home is a great, great pleasure - thank you very, very much - you made my day - possibly more than one - hurrah!

I'm so happy you like it! You know how it is with other people's characters - the risk of drawing something that doesn't agree with the creator's vision is high even if there are visual references to draw from, so drawing someone you know only  from verbal (or written) descriptions is REALLY stressful.
To be honest, i've been itching to draw her since i got back from Morocco and saw all these Berber trinkets. I find Sigilamisa (Sijilamisa? how does one spell her name?) a fascinating character - every time i tell people about the Human Weapon the team has as an affiliated NPC everyone assumes it is some sort of a trigger-happy teen, not this brooding socially awkward and straightforwardly aggressive thing. It won't be the last time i've drawn her, i promise :D
As to sacks of grain, maybe i shouldn't admit to it but i drew them in because of their irregular shape that masks mistakes in my perspective XD

Oh wow, this is stunning! Your ink drawings are just breathtaking. All that detail! All that crosshatching! :faint: Seriously every time I'm asbolutely stunned. But this time I think you took it to a whole new level with the perspective and the lighting. The way you did the light is just impeccable, with a clear light source and how the sacks on the right are so dark as compared to those on the left. It creates such a great sense of depth (and just looks really pretty) The perspective is just amazing too, how do you do it??? And everything has it's own texture, the smooth material of her clothing, the rough sacks, the hard rock floor. And of course then there is the pose itself. You've been drawing such complex poses recently! The perspective, the over the shoulder look, the hands holding the sword are all perfect. Also, just love you rendition of her clothing. Btw. that's a tatto on her forehead right?

BricksandStones doesn't currently have internet access, but as soon as he's back he'll write a longer comment. He was really touched! Thank you!

I'm so happy you like it! It's been ages since i did a full black-and-white illustration - i missed it so much that i may have overdone the hatching out of pure joy to be doing it again :D As to the clothing - i took more than a few liberties with Berber attire, because (a) all my source material was from much later periods and (b) ankle-long robes just didn't suit this Human Weapon...:) And yes, i gave her a forehead tattoo. I was not certain which type of tattoo to put on her since they apparently depend on the region, so i chose one from the Middle Atlas for purely aesthetic reasons.

Also, as you can probably guess i referenced the pose from clip studio - i tried doing it without looking at a model, but i got unsure of my anatomy and decided to look after all...Scratch Head Venus: Sailor Special Garlic Attack!

This is amazing. I love the mysterious look on her face and how it seems like she is thinking about what she will do next to fulfill her brother's wish.

The stippling on the walls behind her and the perspective are awesome, as well. Your backgrounds are always so well executed!

Hope you feel better, BricksandStones!

Glad you like it! I must admit the background is the least thought-through element of this picture - i spent so much time researching Berber attire (so beautiful!) that i had no strength left for devising any complex architecture Sweating a little...
