Bob Dylan by Jonny-Carter Bob Dylan by Jonny-Carter
I did this sometime around May this year as the final piece for my art coursework. It took ten hours to do in two 5-hour installments over two days. It was my art exam which basically involved creating this final piece after doing numerous tests (one of which is the "Newport" manipulation in my gallery).

I chose Bob Dylan as we had to choose a topic of either impressionists or events. I chose events and then decided, as a big Dylan fan, to do my final piece on the event of "The Newport Folk Festival 1965" which is where this piece is supposed to be taking place.

We also had to choose an artist whose style we would reflect in the work. I chose Andy Warhol (ironic given the Dylan and Warhol's...dislike for each other). I got a bit carried away in the exam though so it doesn't really look very Warhol like.

It started with a rough pencil outline. Then thick black permanent marker for all black outlines and small sections. I painted inks on for all the colour and used a combonation of black acrylic, white acrylic and black marker for the black in the centre. The light lines around bits of picture were done in silver marker, which unfortunatrly doesn't show up too well in this photo (it's best seen in the hair).

I still think this is the best piece of art I've ever done and was pretty proud when I found they made it the centre piece of a display cabinet at the lobby area of my school.

YES! I LOVE David Bowie =D

I can't wait for another one, you seriously rock. I can't paint, but the painting I'm doing now (It's a bit sea-sick looking...) will soon be finished. Then I'll post it =D

It's of a female sailor with a sea-sick face and a pipe. I'm making the main colors of the picture green and blue, and the frame will be red. I dunno. I like harsh contrasts =)
