Every now and again I forget that I don't really get how to do superhero types, and have another go.

This one's more successful than most I think, and it's supposed to be Marvel's Daredevil

Bloody hell. I don't know what exactly you want people to say in their critiques, because to my eyes this is just freaking AMAZING!!! Daredevil is one of my favourite characters (despite the fact I haven't read the monthly comic in YEARS!) and I've seen plenty of interpretations of him over the years, but this really captures (to me) the spirit of the character. The bottom panel in particular is really well composed and gets across the motion of him falling, but being in control of the fall. Love the way you've depicted his radar sense and the simple yet effective rendition of the busy, bustling streets below. Really great sense of motion throughout the two panels. Really classic Daredevil. Looking at it the only thing I would say is that in the top panel, it would be better to actually see the top of the building he is going over, even if you just saw his hand on the edge. Also, I'm not sure of the building on the right of DD in that top panel, as it doesn't quite fit visually, for me, with the position of his left hand. However, I am really nitpicking to say that, as overall, the page/image is so strong compositionally. REALLY good work. Kudos! <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/w/w…" width="15" height="15" alt=";)" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="387" title=";) (Wink)"/>

Cheers mate! I think you're right about the top panel. In my head I was seeing the action swing wildly around ol' horn-head as he leapt, but I think that's only going to work if I did more of this. I think I was trying to hard to be dynamic! The less said about the building on the right, the better... I decided to cut back on detail so as not to distract from his head, but you're right, it really looks out of place.

Many thanks for the Critique, I really did find it useful.

No problem, glad to have been of some help, although, as I keep saying, I'm not sure that you're in need of it!

This is freeking awesome. Love it. The diagonal split panel is fantastic. The bottom is my favorite, but both are great. Love that it's in blue as well. Great choice

Thanks! I was hoping the diagonal slash panel would add a dynamism my stuff usually lacks. Sort-of worked :)

Cool! Did you try to show it to some Marvel editor?

nah, can't imagine they'd be interested in this - too wobbly :)

Nonsense. Alex Ross became wildly famous doing work like this.

Well, that was a surprise! I think you've done an interesting job there Josh. I didn't really mean for this to have colour - it was just an experiment really to see how to show DD's 'radar sense' with simple line and tone, but it is always interesting to see other people's interpretations.  Your colours on panel one in particular are very nice.

You should just leave the illustration without the explanation man, moment i saw this I knew who it was lol. Sometimes you can see how well your illustrations can be if people can see it themselves. I dunno, to me it'd be fun to do that lol. Great job tho man!

Thanks! I often feel I have to say who it's supposed to be - people not realising who I was doing would be very embarrassing!

This is F&(%ING awesome!!

YES, I think your style goes excellently with Daredevil's narrative.  The realistic human rendering captures the gritty, grounded attitude of Murdock's stories and you could say that the blotchy color and wobbly lines could help the viewers look at the world through Matt's senses (like how his vision is limited by what he can hear or smell).

Cheers :) The whole thing really came from an idea of how people convey his senses.

Hurrah, nailed it!   Meow :3  Very cool way of presenting it--I love how precarious this free-fall looks, because of how much he can sense is there.
