Ready Player One: Legendary Portraits: Daisho

Here is part 2 of my RPO Legendary Portraits series - Daito and Shoto

I knew early on that I wanted to evoke the demise of Jason Todd Robin with the death of Daito, and one of my favorite interpretations of this moment was created by artist Mico Suayan for issue 17 of DC's Red Hood and the Outlaws. This was the specific design I referenced for creating the piece. The look of the samurai however, was inspired by two antique Japanese statues one of my friends had recently found among his Grandfather's possessions, and I thought they had the perfect look for the brothers Daisho. 

Once again, I wasn't going for a literal interpretation of the characters, so like Legendary Art3mis, they are not part of the childlike High 5. Instead, I decided to imagine them more akin to the Elrich Brothers from Full Metal Alchemist, where the younger brother was always bigger and mistaken as the older brother, thus the Batman and Robin composition was a fitting reference for my aged characters.
