Don't ask me how long I worked on this... way too long, on and off (started a few months back) I got sick of working on it so here it is...

I got inspired by a sketch of the Udaipur fortress in India which I visited two years ago.

I saved the steps for this piece. See them here

What a brilliant piece. Overgrown glory, all lost now. Wow.
I am not an artist, I'm a writer.  When I have a bout of writer's block, I often come to deviantart.com in an effort to reboot my creative energy. When I see such detailed pieces like the one you created, I often wonder the artist created such a beautiful and detailed image.  Once I looked at the steps you took to create this wonderful piece, it gave me an ever greater appreciation of your work. Kudos to you for sticking it out until you finished.  The image is definitely worth the work you put into it.  Love your style.
But you run the risk of not writing because you are all awed and wondrous at the fantastic artistry.... :)

Gorgeous, certainly Indian-looking architecture that has a very naturalistic feel. The rich contrast between the colours of the fine stonework, lush vegetation, and clear sky makes it stand out so well!
The pillars, long corridors, overhang, and balustrades make it all the nicer.

I use to dream places like this.
Maybe you got sick and tired of this, but, hei, it's great!

I am afraid I can't let you "have" my dreams; I just have some drawings, black and white and ink only, that could remind, far remind, your great picture.
I called them "Stanze dell'anima" - that mean "Soul's rooms" or "Rooms of the soul".
In dreams, of course, there are many details, really close to your visions. I don't lack in technique, but I prefer more to draw people than places, and ideas than reckognisable places.
Shapes and colors, here, are amazing, and really familiar to me: places that can be both inside and outside, nature, water, flowers and ancient architecture... it's really one of my best dreams ever.

Maybe, if you're curious, you can check them out here.
