6. Year 1 After the Deaths: Mum might be sick.

14th October Dear Future, this day has had two parts: a boring morning followed by a quiet evening. The boring morning was to make fish traps. In Spanish they call them “nasas," so you get bragging rights for knowing what that means. Nothing to do with noses, they are like a jail with an opening that's easy to get through from the outside. But shape it so it's so hard for a fish to come out. You just need some fodder, and a lot of waiting, and if you are lucky and/or skilled enough you get easy protein. Our Abbey Home has a library of which I made two great finds in the evening. First, a book about dinosaurs written for kids my age in 1983 —that's the copyright. I don't know what's a copyright, by the way… right to copy or something? I guess some scientist brought their children with them back them. There was also another book titled“Philosophical Investigations”, which I tried to read. I mean I could read the words and such, and it's all about words, their meanings

11th Week, 2026 On Kindness, mercy, forgiveness

And such childlish things... Well, I'm going to insist on that, as largely these things are: Critical Unpopular Suspect It seems like we are going through a decade or two of being strong, tough, resilient, powerful, full of pride and such things. Those values are important and necessary to be free, but without mercy, kindness, love, forgiveness, humbleness and such other childish things, they can bring the worst of humanity. People fail and they do so brutally (another word in fashion these days). People should care for each other People should be open to offer forgiveness whenever it's safe, possible, and those forgiven are sincerely stopping to do wrong, etc. Kindness should be the prefered answer. So, even if it's just a teardrop in the sea, I am even more resolute in bringing these softer values to my fiction.
