Another excerpt from Susan and Staci's memoir, Two, Yet One: Our Life as Siamese Twins:
One day in March 1997, when Alicia and Madison were about 8 months old, we were out with them, along with Kaitlin. We were just sitting there on a park bench, when a couple of guys comes up, and they notice the fact we're joined at the back. We're pretty used to people staring at us. We've realized since we were about 9 or 10 that for most people who see us, we're probably the only time most of them have ever or will ever see Siamese twins in the flesh. We mean, we've been to pretty much every store that sells women's clothing and have never once seen a Siamese twins section. People are curious, we get that. We may not always like when people stare, but we've learned to accept it as part of our life. And we encourage questions, no matter what.
Anyways, they see us with our children, and asks us how conjoined twins could have children. We invited them to let us show him. We told him he could choose one of us or the other, or if he felt up to it, he could have both of us. We were still in a relationship with John, but ever since Kaitlin was 3 months old, it was an open relationship. We could sleep around with other men, he could sleep around with other women. Anyways, we gave those guys an experience neither expected to ever have.
Like we said, people tend to ask us questions. We don't mind, it helps people understand us. Here's some of the more common, along with our answers:
"What's it like being a conjoined/Siamese twin?" Only way you really can know what it's like is to be one. Either that, or we tell people it's basically like having sex with each other 24/7.
"How do you two go to the bathroom?" At home, we have a specially made toilet, and when we have to use a public restroom, we take turns.
"If it were possible, would you two ever get separated?" Only if they could reattach us.
"What would you do if you were separated for 24 hours?" Probably give each other a great big hug, and then get a strap-on dildo and take turns doing each other doggy style. Either that, or we'd go to Disneyland.
How did you two get stuck together?"(we get this a lot from young children, many of whom have never even heard of conjoined twins, let alone seen a pair in the flesh) We were born stuck together. It's called conjoined twins, although some people call it Siamese twins.
