Mirielle and Arienne

In the kingdom of Aravon, 12 year old Angelique, the crown princess of Aravon, once saved a woman from drowning. The woman turned out to be a very powerful sorceress, however, she was unable to swim, or to use her powers in water. In gratitude, the sorceress cast a spell over young Angelique. "You shall bear twin daughters," the sorceress said. "Their beauty will be unmatched. Hair the color of the finest gold, eyes blue as the purest water, and lips red as a rose. These daughters will one day lead  Aravon to true greatness." The sorceress did, however, have a slightly warped sense of humor, so she added one more thing: The two will never directly face one another."

Ten years later, to the day, Angelique is crowned Queen of Aravon, upon her marriage to Duncan, the Duke of Marovay. Exactly 9 months later, Angelique gives birth to twin daughters, whom she names Mirielle and Arienne. The twins had hair the color of the brightest gold, eyes blue as the purest water, and lips red as a rose. However, the twins were conjoined, their bodies joined at the upper back. This was something unheard of. Angelique had heard rumors once, of brothers in the Eastern Lands, born joined by a band of flesh at their mid torsos. However, those were just rumors. It was suggested by royal advisers to abandon the twins, to allow them to die of exposure. However, Angelique remembered something about the prophesy the sorceress told her about the twins: their conjoinment prevented them from being able to face one another. Angelique and Duncan chose to raise the girls as normally as conjoined twins could be raised. They were educated by the finest tutors in the land. They were taught that their physical bond was their strength, not their weakness. And, on the day they turned 18, it was their time to ascend the throne as Queens of Aravon...
