Here Comes the Bride

75-year-old Amanda Smith was never a sticker for rules, especially on her wedding day. As she puts it, "I'm the bride, I make the rules." For starters, despite her age, she's wearing a strapless dress. "Only person who has the right to decide whether or not I'm too old to wear a strapless dress is me," she says. "Once again, me bride, me make rules." Third, there's the fact her twin sister, Rebecca, is walking her down the aisle, as well as being her matron of honor. "My father died 10 years ago," Amanda said, "I can't think of anyone I'd rather have walk me down the aisle than my wombmate." Speaking of the aisle, there's the fact it's located behind the altar, and not in front. Aside from breaking tradition, Amanda has a practical reason for this: "Since Tommy and I are the stars of the show, we shouldn't have our backs to the audience, but rather facing them." There's also the age difference between Amanda and her fiancé, Tommy. He's only 18, and still in high school(he's a senior). "They say there's someone out there for everybody," Amanda says, "but how was I to know that by the time my someone was born, I'd be a card-carrying member of AARP?" There's also the part about taking his last name after the wedding. That won't be necessary, as his last name is Smith. The two of them are cousins. To be precise, they're first cousins, twice removed. Tommy had always gotten along with "cousin Mandy", and when he was 6, he proposed to her, as a joke, using a ring he got out of a vending machine. For years, the two would joke about it, and when Tommy finally turned 18, Amanda asked if he actually did want to marry her. Since the girls weren't exactly beating a path to his door, he agreed. In fact, one of the few traditional things she did was the old "Something old(the bride), something new(the dress0, something borrowed(a  necklace she borrowed from Rebecca), somehting blue(blue flowers in her bouquet).
