The misadventures of 20-year-old dicephalic parapagus conjoined twins(two heads on a single body) Rose & Mary Porter, from Grover's Landing, a small American town in an unspecified state(although in an interview from 2013, the show's creator revealed the state in question was Maine). While Rose and Marie are actually conjoined twins who share a body, and were raised as such, they see themselves as a single two-headed woman named Rosemary. The series ran 104 episodes, from March 2008 to March 2010.

TRIVIA

1. Despite the show being produced in Japan, it was created by an American, Jason Owens.

2. Even though it wasn't revealed until 2013 the series took place in Maine, it was said in the first episode that Grover's Landing was in New England, on the Atlantic Coast.

3. Despite the similarity between how they're joined, this series was in no way based on real-life conjoined twins Abby & Brittany Hensel. While the Hensel twins were born in 1990, the series was based on a character from a short story Jason Owens published in 1989.

4. The fact that one twin was a blonde and the other a redhead was never addressed. The behind-the-scenes explanation was that producers couldn't decide on whether the twins were blondes or redheads, and the decision was made to make them one of each.

5. One criticism of the show was an inconsistency on which twin answered to Rose and which one answered to Mary. This was revealed to be a deliberate choice, to emphasize the fact they saw themselves not as Siamese twins, but as a two-headed woman.

6. The final episode, centered around Rosemary's funeral, revealed that she passed away in her sleep the night before her 21st birthday. The decision to kill off Rosemary was made because producers wanted the series to have a definite ending, and they felt no ending could be any more definite than the death of the main character.

7. The wording of the title was inspired by Prince, who Jason Owens admits is his favorite musician.

8. During the final episode, at their funeral, it was revealed that the red haired twin was Rose, while the blonde haired twin was Mary.

9. A spinoff series, 2 Heads R (still) Better than 1, was produced in 2023. This American made series retconned the final episode, where Rosemary dies in her sleep, and is set 10 years after the final episode. In this series, Rosemary is legally declared to be one person with two heads, as opposed to conjoined twins, and are married to Billy Finch, their best friend since childhood. As the 104 episode(and counting, the series is still ongoing) series begins, Rosemary is pregnant with her third child, who is born in episode 31.
