Hey Guys and Gals!

I really must apologize for the lack of activity on my part here on dA.  It's not that I don't wanna, believe me!  My transition from part-time to full-time has been quite the adventure, but I passed the one year mark and I feel confident that things will only get better from here on out.  I could not have accomplished this without your support.  You have my thanks and I hope that I can continue to hold up my end of the bargain (that's making and painting cool stuff, right?? hehe).

This year has already gone by so quick, largely in part to many projects and commissions which, good or bad, take up an extreme amount of my time.   Then there's the emails...lord, so many emails.  (I think I wished too hard for that a while back..).  It is my hope that in the coming months that I will reclaim a bit of my free time and be able to talk with you all more about the projects.  That's my favorite part.  I want to have my fun back!

All that aside, I am extremely excited about some plans that are in the works.  I will look forward to sharing more on this soon and I look forward to seeing what you all think.   Thank you and I'll be back in a jif! :)

Best Regards,
Brian

Hi Everyone!

As often happens with convention season (it's starting to seem like more of an all year thing these days!), I've had to keep my focus on getting projects finished and keeping to hard deadlines (which is not what I signed on for, Sarge! hehe).  I shuld know of previous years that my spring and summer ususally get gobbled up, but this year has been that X10.  It's giving me the opportunity to work with some really talented folks as well as projects that I couldn't have attempted with the small shop I had been occupying.  So long story short is as soon as I can get around to editing and posting photos, there's going to be a lot of cool stuff going up on my page here on dA.   You guys are the best and I sincerely appreciate the support.  Keep up the great work on you own masterpieces and I'll see you guys on here real soon :)

I still fully intend to keep up with the commission requests, so please don't hesitate to email me about proposed projects.   I'm also always looking to do more in the industry so I would love to hear if you have any suggestions for career opportunities.  As much as I'm enjoying the props and replicas, I need dem heath benefits with all the paint fumes I'm inhaling, hehe.

Much Respect,
Brian Johnson

I've received a number of questions as to whether I take commission requests, so I thought it would make a good Journal entry :)    The answer is that I most certainly do.  In fact, most of the things you see me post are commissions from people with outstanding taste (hehe).  I can get just about anything made if you have the money to fund it!

I can be reached most easily by my email, Johnsonarms76@gmail.com.  Sometimes I am super-fast to respond to emails, .   It can sometimes take me a few days to respond, but that's usually me doing a bit of research before I respond to ya.  (I like to put on the guise of being a business professional... and that takes some time, lol).  If it's been more than a couple days though, please send me a reminder, just in case the first email got lost or missed!

Thank you for the interest in my painting, you folks make it a lot of fun to do :)

I finally changed my user name here on dA!  I hope this will be a benefit for anyone trying to find my photos since it's been under the BCJFLA76 name for about 2 years now.   I had originally started this account prior to posting the custom props so it didn't really matter.  I also didn't plan to have anyone CARE that I was doing this stuff, hehe...thus the mysterious deviation.    So anyways, I finally got around to going to premium on here and it gave me the option to change my name so I did, finally ;)

Thanks to all who made it out to the Orlando Mini-Maker's Faire this past Saturday.  That marked my first "official" public display setup!  So thank you to Ian and the crew and all the people who checked out my wares.   You folks have lead me to believe that I can actually do a convention.  Many said it was actually busier than a convention because people didn't feel so preyed upon.  I hope I helped that too by refusing to sell anything, lol.  (Everything I brought already had an owner.  Besides, I was there to educate and motivate, not sell anything)

Stay tuned for some really cool future projects and collaborations.  I think you'll all approve of the work! :)

Brian Johnson

Good Evening!

I just wanted to say welcome to the new watchers brought this way from Kotaku.   I hope you will enjoy checking out the photos that kind of chronical my progress with my painting and fabricating...yeah, still getting better with the fab..and the paint, hehe.  Give me a few years and think things will be pretty wild.   Thank you as well to all the folks who were already here, you know I appreciate all the comments and questions.  I hope I'm still getting to most of them, I swear I'm doing my best :)

Anyways, thanks again for the interest and check out the stuff I've fav'ed.  There's a lot of really talented people here on dA!

If you didn't see the story, I'd be honored to have you check it out :)   Kotaku.com: kotaku.com/5909478/these-amazi…

For about a year now, I've been looking for someone out there that make really great props and replicas for me to work with.  This stems from a lack of equipment and overall expertise at making things from scratch...I'm a painter dangit, not an engineer!  I like to sling paint and I'm working on the fabrication part, promise!

So anyways, I think that period of time is about to end....  I have teamed up with one of the most talented builders I've had the pleasure to work with and he's right here on dA.  He goes by the mysterious name "Meowmeowmeow", but I also know him as Christopher Glas of Christopher Glas Studios christopherglasstudios.com and hypercats.net hypercats.net.  He deserves your attention and I hope you'll check out all his hard work.

I also hope you will look forward to what happens when you combine two mad-scientist brains into one unstoppable (unstable?) force :)

Stay tuned for the results and thank you, as always, for the support!

Respectfully,

Thank you everyone for the fantastic response on the recently posted photos, youou guys are THE BEST.  It's like showing my family...except a few more people than usually fit in my house...hehe.

I think this may prompt me to make more SP stuff so stay tuned.  ;)

Happy December dA!

I thought I might be busy this time of year and that has been the case.  I just wanted to let anyone know who's been kind enough to post a comment or fav a photo that I really appreciate it and read every comment.  I also knew there would come a time when keeping up with everything becomes impossible and that's where I sit right now.  Things will calm down after new years, but for now please know that even if I don't post back a comment, you time and consideration has been appreciated :)

Please keep the ideas and suggestions coming.  I'm still learning and a lot of that comes from the dA community.  I wouldn't be where I am today without your support and I thank every single one of ya!  Yes, you as well!  ;)

Happy Holidays and I look forward to getting some more fun stuff posted soon!

Hey folks,

I was contacted by a dA member by the name of Witchworks.  He makes leather goods that include holsters, belts, bandoliers, and other cool steampunk style items.  I highly suggest you take a look at some of his stuff.  He has a arm wrap that includes working LED lights.  Very cool and he doesn't use any electric tools so you know he's serious!  :)

Check Roger's stuff out here ----> witchworks.deviantart.com/

Thanks and hope my computer will be up soon.  I will use a borrowed laptop in the meantime :)  Seeya!

Oh, I got my first film credit on Wednesday and due to this I'm listed on iMDB.  I thought it was pretty cool and now I just need to decide at what point I want to pay that insane 15.95 monthly fee to add a photo and other info.  I wonder if George Lucas pay's 15.95 a nonth for his profile.  Me thinks not!

So I was fortunate enough to get two indie film prop projects this past week.  One being a simple, yet not exactly easy snub nose revolver and the other job consisting of two majotly customized (paint-wise) nerf style guns.  As oftoday I'm done with both jobs and now I can focus on some new stuff.  I hope you guys enjoy and please keep telling your friends about me if you think it's worthy of the mention.  I can't tell you how much I appreciate the referrals and I'm still amazed at how much has happened in such  a short time.  I appreciate it all and you're making a grown man feel like a kid again.  Thank you for that.

All the best,
Brian

Hey Everyone!  This past week was busy yet again, but that's a blessing in my opinion.  I'm getting to where I feel I can actually take some free time and enjoy some days of pure nothingness ;)   I am a bachelor, after all, hehe.

So this week saw was largely mavericks and steampunk pistols.  The most important one was for MyaThe SquishyOctopus :iconmyathesquishyoctopus: here on DA.    She made me a wonderful drawing for my little girl and so I wanted to make her a really cool gun to show up all the boys in town :)  See her drawing here [myathesquishyoctopus.deviantar… and my trade is hiding over here ---> fav.me/d3dklyf

I found some new styles for the little antique guns that look brilliant when painted.  Now I just hope people on eBay and Etsy feel the same!  I also have a Longstrike that is just about done and is done in a custom camo design.  I tried to use some unusual color combos as to look military, but not specifically one country (or planet for that matter).

Hope you all are doing well, thank you as always for your support and kind comments.  I appreciate it and I also enjoy all the wonderful work you guys put out!

Have a great week!

Busy busy this past week, but I finished the two gun props as well as about 8 other jobs.  I'm ready to take the weekend off with my kids and blow off some steam!  Don't worry, I'll come back after that, heh.

Hey All!  To say thanks and also spread the word on my new baby blog, I'm giving away a Customized nerf maverick to one of the lucky folks who subscribes to my page by March 11th.  There's no catch and no cost involved.  Even if you live out of country, you're still able to win, I just have to dig a little deeper into my wallet to mail it :)  A small price to pay, in my opinion!

Winner can choose the style of the gun, either steampunk, spacemarines, tactical black or Camo!

Here's the link, have a look and feel free to drop me a message if you have any questions or comments!  Thank you!

The weather has slowed me down a bit, but I guess that's good to be forced to drink some beer and chill out a little.  Too many days of working 8am to midnight makes Brian a raving loon...or so the phrase says.  Anyways, just wanted to thank all the new watchers as well as the groups who have requested use of some of my guns.  It's a real privledge to be on here and have such great friends.  Yep, you're friends, deal with that!  ;)

So I started this entry about the weather and got side-tracked.  It's crap as I mentioned earlier, but now that I'm mostly moved into my permanent office (drywall and wall sockets FTW) I'm away from the cold and moisture that is really the arch enemy of paint and painters alike.

Hope you all have a great weekend and stay tuned, lots more stuff coming to a DA website near you!

(oh yes, I really enjoy doing this kind of work.  Someone offer me a paying job, peeze.  Tanks.)

I really appreciate all the great people here on DA.  In all the time I've been here, not once have a seen a nasty comment (on my or any other deviation). It's really a blast sharing my hobby with you guys and the fact that it also helps generate some much needed income is a blessing.  All the best to you guys (and gals!) and I hope you'll tell your friends to check out my page when you have a chance (or when my bribe money arrives in the mail...it's on it's way, swear!)
