Artic Mass Effect Nerf Rifle

Arctic White version of the N7 Rifle. Special request by the commissioner :) I like how it came out - just needs a bit more weathering on the barrel

How much would it cost you to make another? I'm very interested in buying one.

Oooh, it looks good in white.

Thanks, white it a tough color for me, it's tough to keep it clean where you want to. No forgiveness at all to smudges :)
So do you disassemble it first, then sand it, prime it, sand it, and then paint?

Or do you do all of it while it is still on the gun with the internal parts?
JohnsonArmsProps's avatar
no disassembly on this one. I'm insane that way, I suppose. the rest of the steps you have down just about right!

what paints did you use? i'm trying to get a stampede to mod and this looked awesome
JohnsonArmsProps's avatar
Krylon black for the base and testors and humbrol paint for the detail stuff. Good luck and thank you :)

I am trying to acheive a similar white finish on my Stampede. I'm going for a clean District 9 look. I wanted to know how you prepare the surface before painting and also is this spray painted, hand brushed or airbrushed?
JohnsonArmsProps's avatar
It's all but the airbrush. I basecoat with primer after sanding and then sand down the primer before the second coat. The brushwork is the "magic" part, but with this gun the white is really the focus so I knew the rest of it would just be added visual fun. Really hope you have good luck with yours!

Nerf guns are never cooler than when they're made into Mass Effect rifles ^_^
