Beware the winker, he will appear at your gate,
Disguised as an honest workman, or wearing a suit,
But always and forever with that smooth -lking style.
“Surely”, that wink says, “we two know how the game is played,
We are in cahoots against the man.
And cash in hand we will give the system a good run around.”
He will call you mate and offer to polish your roof at a knockdown price.
He will conjure up an extra special one time only deal, tailored specially for you,
An unmissable offer to resurface your dreams and refurbish your life.
Beware the winker, the winker is sly. Keep him at arms length and don't shake his hand.
The winker laughs ingratiatingly when you make a joke,
Sighs sadly at your troubles and sorrows, which by some strange chance only he can cure.
And that peculiar acrid smell which hangs about him, and he claims is aftershave,
That is certainly sulphur.
