Johnny..... the other piece you did caught my eye. The corey miller piece. I think you're good with the pen tool (Adode Illustrator), and that's fine. But your tracing. It looks flat. Because the strokes (1 pt) has no depth. If you want to add dimension trace out the in line and the out line... this adds line weight. Which makes your pieces look more rendered and less traced. 
The good news is your already good with the pen tool! You're half way there. Bro I really wish I could show you an example of what I do. So that I could show you what I'm talking about, AND have some credibility. Not sound like someone that just wants to critique.....
