Mercury Arc Rectifier 1

I was planning to do a mercury arc rectifier for a few days now, and I finally got around to doing my rendition of one.
These rather antique devices convert AC to DC on a more high power scale. Like for running lift motors, trams, big battery chargers and what not. The trams in Melbourne used these, plus the Manx Electric Railway on the Isle of Man, and the lifts at Belsize Park in London, to name 3 places. They seem to be quite complex in terms of how they need to be set up as well from what I’ve read. They have an ignition wire which touches the mercury inside, and it’s drawn up by an electro-magnet to create a spark, which starts the whole thing going. My magnet, is the brown tubular thing on the fan vent.
I based my design on drawings and real photos of several types. It’s probably about as accurate as I can get one with my skills.
