My Bio
Johannes is a self-taught New York-based photographer. He began his pictorial journey from an early age in Claverack, New York, poring through issues of National Geographic. Through the years, photography not only became Johannes’ artistic medium but also changed the way he viewed the world.
Fascinated by people and culture, his first venture into the realm of professional photography in 2008 at the Carrie Haddad gallery opened up infinite possibilities.
Always striving to grow and learn, Johannes continually explores fresh and unique perspectives to shoot. His varied experiences include covering events, portraiture, the abstract, fashion, documentary, food, still life and nature.

Jeez it has been a crazy couple months for me, crazy for me very basically meaning a mix of hectic, awesome, hard, inspiring, and and so much fun.
Moving to NYC feels like one of the best decisions I have made since.. well.. ever...
I am not only growing in a professional manor but also growing in a spiritual more deep way, I am getting to know myself better and getting in touch with who I am. There is no mask I ever want to put on being me feels right. I love everything I am doing, whether it be photographing, or meeting new and interesting people.

So I am now in the city! I recently just tied up the loose ends of everything shortly after moving to the city.. usually not a good idea to plan that way, but it worked out regardless lol.
So the way I got my job was because where I chose to work this summer.. The farm I worked on is owned by Liz Neumark, who owns Great Performances, a high end catering company in the city. Sometime in the summer I spoke to her about my passion in photography and how it was very hard for my to make conclusive connections with people via the internet concerning an internship and that I always do better to make a good first impression. SInce I can remember I have always loved observing other photographers work. What this has done for me is really push my work over the edge of wanting to be there, then realizing I am closer than I think.
This in a way is somewhat intimidating but also re-inspiring, I feel I am now much more ready to take the next step and really try and develop my own style.
Though I have done things in "my own way" I don't know if they have not been done before.. I really want to see if my style, what ever it may end up being, can bring significant differences in my work, and maybe bring something eclectic and new to the photography world.

i recommend these shows on there: BOSS, Tokyo Dogs, Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge, a tale of two sisters movie, coffee prince, audition movie, and blind shaft movie as well as Atashinchi no Danshi. there are more good ones but I will let you explore and decide yourself if you like.
