Great work as always Joe, story is rather nice and the art has that special nostalgic feel that captures G1 so well.

Thanks very much. I definitely try to capture the G1 comic feel - like when they used to use toy likenesses for the characters.

I can see you used some toy references on this one! ;) Awesome job with the purple overlaying Jazz! Definite sign Skywarp is up to no good again! :)

Thanks. I thought Jazz would look a bit dull just coloured grey / shadowed, so slammed some evil Skywarp purple on him!
And indeed, I drew Jazz by looking at his (awesome) toy for reference :)

Awesome cover! Love the perspective.

Thanks. It started off as just a drawing of Jazz. Then I added the shadow of Skywarp and it really reminded me of something... the Ultra Magnus/Galvatron cover Guido Guidi did for Regeneration One issue 93.
It wasn't intentional at all, but the set up of that cover must have influenced me. :)

That damn cover I wanted to Color but couldn't find the lineart anywhere...
JoeTeanby's avatar
Yes, it was a beautiful cover. :)
I'd love to see your colours on that too!

won't happen; but there's other things to Color (Escape for example ;))

:D
And if you ever run out of things to colour I'm sure I can find you something... XD

Nicely done dude :)

Thanks very much. I really enjoy drawing 'slapdash' style artwork.
For the story I just wanted to do a little all-action battle scene, between two of my favourite Transformers.

It show's mate, it's very kinetic!  You can feel the energy and speed of the work ;)
Keep it up mate!

Thanks very much. I often prefer drawing like this. It's very freeing not to get hung up on little mistakes and minor details that I don't think look exactly right.

Very cool mate!  Jazz was my first TF and still remember being really excited when my dad got him for me.
JoeTeanby's avatar
Thanks! Yeah, I've got fond memories of him too. He was definitely one of the first ones I got. And my dad bought me the reissue a couple of years ago for Christmas too! :)
hellbat's avatar
Cool.  I got the reissue too.  My original one got too much battle damage over the years.
JoeTeanby's avatar
I've still got my original. It's still in pretty good condition apart from a few peeling stickers, and his arms were always a bit stiff, but he's still going strong! :)

Jazz loves Iron Maiden!!?? xD
JoeTeanby's avatar
He does in my world! XD
I needed something he could blast at full volume to scare away/save the humans, and it's set in the 1980's.
If in doubt - Iron Maiden! :D

Right choice!

I love to see all the details you put in the drawnings, for example "Blackrock Fuels" ;-)
