This image of Metroplex is very evocative of the ‘G1’ age of Transformers to me, yet also with its highly detailed approach it captures a modern feel too, and perfectly brings the two aspects together.
I’m unsure if this drawing is based more on the recent Titan class Hasbro figure, because to me it’s main similarities are to the original Metroplex character / toy, with the ‘blockiness’ of the figure removed and replaced with believable moving elements.

The scale has been captured brilliantly with the addition of Cybertronian buildings, and the way Metroplex himself is lurching forward through the frame of the work. But, my favourite aspect of the drawing is the head, and specifically his facial expression, which presents a definite stoic / protective look. This is very well done indeed.

Another highlight is the way the hands have been drawn, with much attention to their joints and workings. The detail on display here really is the star of the show. The pose is also very well done, which gives the character a lurching / slow moving feel.

Personally I would like to have seen more shading, but as it stands this is a very well crafted and intricate piece.

Overall this is a very expertly drawn piece, and a terrific character study of Metroplex, whos character has been captured here in an original and dramatic way.

A truly fantastic G1 inspired piece! I love this drawing.
The cartoony / Nick Roche style interpretation by the artist works brilliantly, adding a lot of character to the violence on display here. The perspective adds a further dimension to the piece, with the bulk of the action happening up front while the shadowy figure of Scorponok lurks in the centre distance, which is perfectly framed and adds a touch of impending menace.
The facial expressions are expertly crafted, and the level of detailing is just enough to enable the different characters to be picked out in the crowd. Not an inch of space is wasted here, and I feel that the action almost spills over from the scene.
I hope to see this coloured one day, which may add a further dimension to the piece, but overall this is one of the most engaging pieces of Transformers fan artwork I remember seeing.
Brilliant!

I'm writing this prior to reading the story, as that would be how a cover was viewed with a print comic.
Knowing nothing about the story contained within, I can immediately recognise this is a Beast Wars inspired tale, with a recognisable cast of characters forming the top half of the cover.
As I'm not too familiar with Beast Wars, the characters at the lower half of the cover are unfamiliar to me, but with their dynamic poses they have grabbed my interest straight away.
The way the cover is composed is very original, outlining the characters I expect will feature in the comic. The break-up between the two sets of characters with the use of the shuttle is very welcomed and adds interest.
The drawing of the cover is great, being nice and clear, and the colouring is vibrant and complementary to the art style. My only criticism would perhaps be to change the abrupt feel of the fading of the bottom of the top row of characters, but this is a very minor observation, and I can see why the dedication has been made.
The dark background adds a dramatic feel, though there is perhaps a little too much empty space, which could have maybe featured an explosion or two (personal preference <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s…" width="15" height="15" alt=":)" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="391" title=":) (Smile)"/> ).
As for the lettering, the title reminds me very much of the IDW Gathering/Ascending fonts and works nicely.
Overall, this is a great cover, and is very successful in gaining the viewers' interest. Great work by everyone involved.
Now I look forward to reading the comic....
