Interesting. WotC has art directors that commission artists and those artists sign contracts saying the work they submit is their own work. That looks like a freelancer broke their contract and used someone else's work. In that case, the freelancer will likely be punished or no longer hired and the original artist compensated. I wouldn't be surprised if the original artist ends up getting a chance to do some cards because of this. I've been an art director (although not at WotC) and you'd be shocked by how often people try to turn in plagiarized work. It's extremely hard to catch every incident before it gets to print. Famously Pete Moehrbacher traced a pic of Die Antwoord and Terese Nielsen traced over a photo she didn't have any rights to. I don't believe either get work from WotC anymore.
