The White Sea by JoePingleton The White Sea by JoePingleton
Tonight's experiment with DAZ Studio and Iray explores Design Anvil's "DA Let it Snow" with "Paladin HD MMXV for Genesis 2 Males(s)", "Secluded Shoreline" and the 18th century corvette "Licorne". Plus a walrus and some Fast Fog Iray for atmosphere. NO POSTWORK.

Love, love, LOVE this! Very few pieces make you feel the cold, but this has me running for my earmuffs. Great composition.

Thank you for the kind words. This experiment started out as a way to try apply the snow on all the ships rigging. Then I got carried away and wanted to try it on a figure, clothing, props, an animal and a landscape. ;) (Wink)

This is a really cool picture, as my 7-yr-old described it. The ship, the armored warrior, the snow, all of it--we love it. Love Awesome job. Clap

Wow, what an amazing composition you created, Joe!  I love everything about this!  The ship is so impressive.  As an aside, all I can think is, "Man, I bet that Paladin is cold in that armor!"  Funny how the mind works, isn't it?
Really wonderful art!

Every time I see armor in the snow I have the same thought.  I like to think they have some sort of insulation underneath it, or things might freeze to it ;)

Aww Joe, I am betting in real life those knights did have to have something between their armor and skin, otherwise, in all seriousness they would have gotten hypothermia which although would take longer is just as deadly as an injury in battle.  I am thinking it would have been some wool fabric.  Makes sense to me.
I think I like it when you get carried away.  It is really amazing to see how people think and create.  The end results are really wonderful!

You used it very well! I've got that "Let It Snow" too, originally for a Christmas render, but also used it in fighting scene on the ground, and on a frozen figure in space. It can be very useful.

Again, very well done!

I learned a lot from this experiment.  It does take some playing with the settings of the geo-shells and snow presets.  I thought the rigging of the ship would be the real pain and it turned out the armor took the most work. ;)
