Joelglaine

Joel had become a good friend for my son Marcel (badfinger.deviantart.com/journ…). They only knew about deviantart. New Year's Eve 2008 they wanted to spend together in America with my second son. Unfortunately my son died in June 2008. I then had short time contact to Joel and was deeply impressed by him. As often as I think of the friendship of the two, I also visit Joel's side.

I suspected this too.  I am really sad to see it confirmed.  I haven't been here in a while, but followed a link of another friend's work, and as I always have done when here, checked Joel's site.  I read and communicated with him on another site, and whenever I got an email that he had posted a new image, I felt a rush of excitement.  His characters and his development and interaction of them, were wonderful.  When we corresponded, we wrote mostly about his work.  I didn't know him really well, but I miss his presence in my life.  I miss his humor, and miss reading new work from him very much.   I am a longtime fan of rereading favorite works, and I will be rereading his many times.

I still can't believe it. And I wish I had known sooner. The last I'd heard, at the end of 2010, Joel was in not such a good condition. My guess is that he'd ended up in the hospital for a few weeks afterward and finally passed away in January.

This is really rough. And I still can't believe it. If anyone here wants to talk about Joel, send me a PM or just say it here.

Rest in peace, Joel. I'm gonna miss you, you old fart. And I'll always be back here to re-read your stories. They are the best.
