Artist's Toolbox: Watercolor equipment II
✿   Watercolor Equipment II - Additional Tools In the first week of Artist's Toolbox, we discussed basic Watercolor Equipment such as paper, brushes and paints. Second week's article presents additional tools, equipment that some artists use to enhance their watercolor creations or just for the fun of it, however none of them is crucial to create a watercolor painting. I divided these tools into two categories - those used to Create Highlights and those used to Create Textures. Bottom part of this article belongs to our watercolorists and their Personal Experience regarding additional tools. 1. Creating Highlights ✐ Masking

A new version apo-plugins has been released on sourceforge!  You can find the download here.  Make sure you grab the file with "bin" in the name.

New variations:
    • butterfly
    • curve
    • edisc
    • escher
    • loonie
    • scry

Other changes:
    • lazysusan
        ‣ new lazysusan_x and lazysusan_y parameters.
        ‣ Still 100% backward compatible with previous releases ;)

Check the readme file for a few more technical details of changes.

The problem surrounding the lazysusan and split plugins seems to have been resolved.  If anyone has any problems with these or any other plugins please let me know about it in my journal (I don't get notices in my message centre from these news posts).  I'm sorry if you were unable to get lazysusan working previously.  I still don't know why that happened :(

Was escher named after M.C. Escher?

Yes. The formula is Escher's Map [link] which he used in "Print Gallery" [link] . You can read more about the math in this piece here: [link]

Thank you!! I sure do wish somebody would create a just plain "FAN' plugin. The 3d version has Fan2 but that just doesn't get it.

Fan2 can do everything that Fan can do, and more

I have a couple of scripts that won't run with Fan2, only Fan.

ah Apo seems to crash when I open the transform editor.. does anyone else get this? Ill try and work out which new plugin causes the problem...

If you aren't already, use the standard 2.06c or 2.06c 3D

if you have other plugins not included in the pack, try removing them. Also, you can remove Droste from the pack, as it is the same as Escher. Droste seems to cause problems with the 3D hack.

Thanks! I am using 2.06c... It seems to work as long as I only use the new plugin pack. It is when I add the old plugins that it starts to crash. Is there a limit to the number of plugins that can run at once?

There is a limit of 30. However, there seems to be a conflict with other plugins. Not sure why though :(
