Description
If it's news to you and you don't mind spoilers, recently developments in Zebra Girl have shown that Tomie, a living book, has become Tomie the living person! Hey, how about that. Good for Tomie. That's got potential.
Well as it happened, a wonderful person named Dalal Naoum approached me at MoCCA Fest 2014 and asked for a picture of Tomie in her currently animate bipedal form. It turned out so well that I thought it would be a good opportunity to show off the former book's new body. So after Dalal sent me a scan I polished it up and now here she is for you to study.
I won't tell the story of just how Tomie achieved this state of being yet, but I will give a little background information. I had had his/her/its metamorphosis in mind for some years, and up until fairly recently I was planning to have the critter become an exotic gynoid construct, a half-book humanoid entirely constructed of paper and covers and whatnot. But when the time drew near to actually consider doing it, I realized that it would be much better to go with a simpler, more understated solution. Hell, I've got enough weird characters in my comic as it is, I don't need another headache on top of drawing Zandra's stripes.
So Tomie was given her new body, almost as uncomplicated as I could make her. And I don't mind saying that I'm proud of how she turned out! I'm already anxious to draw her again.

Well, Tomie the book was pretty cool, but tomie the person seems very cool, relaxed and laid back. And she's got ink for blood--what's not to like?
