I am a child of the Pennsylvania countryside, with an imagination that has not shrunk with age. I am probably the strangest fellow you would ever meet; eccentric, somewhat of an outcast, but one who marches to the beat of his own heart.

Habitual drawer, when I put my pencil to paper I almost always have to draw a dragon, specifically one of my characters which are anthropomorphic/bipedal alien dragons that fly in spaceships and stuff.

I've explored various other forms of art. 3D art is essentially the 2D art extruded into a 3D form. I might post some of this later, if I feel like it.

Photographic subjects are models of the miniature sorts, most often insects but sometimes small reptiles. Living in the country side I even got a few photos of deer strolling through the yard outside my window. They just aren't good or clear enough photos to post on here!

Audio pleasures vary widely, from soothing and melodic alternative rock from the mid 1990s such as Toad the Wet Sprocket, to dreamy shoegazing such as Slowdive, to meditative and massively atmospheric doom metal such as Mournful Congregation, to bludgeoning and brutal death metal such as Benighted, to epic and fantastical anthems of power metal such as Freedom Call, to cold and forbiddingly misanthropic black metal such as Leviathan, to the warm and welcoming voice of Priscilla Ahn, to the unifying force of local bands that have provided me a haven from the rest of the world.

Hobbies of late include raising various species of insects. One of my favorites in this area are praying mantises, I have experience with 16 different types including the common Chinese mantis (Tenodera sinensis), the exotic Orchid mantis (Hymenopus coronatus), the bizarre Cryptic mantis (Sibylla pretiosa) and several others.

I also have Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches and several species of grasshopper. In the past I've kept Eastern Lubber grasshoppers, a creature I hope to obtain once again.

I've acquired a taste for whisky ever since I turned 21. I'm one of those "weird people" that actually waited until they were of legal age to consume alcohol. Scotch, Irish, Bourbon, Tennessee, Rye, Canadian, Japanese and even French whiskies inhabit my collection. My favorite is Laphroaig 10 year, a single malt Islay Scotch.
And I remember five years ago I wanted to start uploading more recent works. Then I kind of procrastinated and five years later NOTHING NEW uploaded.

Well now...

That's got to change.

Though there will be some different sorts of pieces. For example, I'm into macro photography. For those who don't yet know, I'm an amateur entomologist. I love bugs, I always have. In 2009 I decided to get into keeping them as pets all around the year. I have excellent experience with many species of praying mantis, so expect a lot of cool and adorable looking mantis images in the coming weeks. I've also kept various species of grasshopper, my favorite by far being Eastern Lubber grasshoppers. So I'm going to go through and pick out which photos look the most fantastic and put them up here.

This past November I participated in NaNoWriMo for the first time and attained victory! I didn't finish the novel, but I surpassed the 50,000 word threshold and I intend on rewriting this beast of a story to be tighter and more readable to the masses. I want this to be published, after all! If my niece can put out a book, so can I! She's a big inspiration by the way... :3

In that story, I created new characters and reworked old characters. So, I'm going to start drawing these updated and new characters and post them. Some are still the old cute-faced dragon anthro fellows, but the Naturian characters look a whole lot different. Zesertet, for example, has several pictures on my dA already, but she looks completely different now - human faced in one form, pure grasshopper in another.

If you're wondering, yes, there is a mantis Naturian. Her name is Lyratet.

I've taken a few classes in 3D animation, so there *might* be some 3D work posted. I might also attempt new 3D work since the stuff I have is all from school. Still looks weird, just imagine a 3D version of my 2D sketches of my characters.

  • Drinking: A wee dram of Laphroaig quarter cask

Hey there!  Thanks for the fav and watch, your bugs are awesome and I'll be back when I can to read more about them.  I had no idea you could raise praying mantises of any kind in captivity.

Mantises are so fun to raise, I've been doing so since 2009. I currently have 15 of them of five species. I'm going to look into putting up a lot more photos in my Scraps folder (since not all of them are of the quality of "Sakura no kamakiri") I also have these giant grasshoppers from Florida called Eastern Lubbers.
