I was commissioned by ~MelSkinner to do a book cover illustration for a young adult sci-fi series called Nightmares of Nevaeh, where each cover is going to feature an important symbol or icon. This cover features the "Marenoc," a significant alien artifact.

15-20 hours Adobe Photoshop CS3, with some minimal help from Adobe Illustrator CS3.

I personally think the third one is the best, is this a going though the stages or is it three finished choices?

This is awesome! ^^ I would so read this! (plus the fact that it's sci-fi just adds to the "omg must read"-ness of it)

I really like the third one the best. It is quite different and separates it from looking like Twilight and it does have a bit more of a sci-fi feel to it. It's something I would pick up to see what it's about if I saw it on the shelf.

Very good evolution. The last one is definitely a win. Although the brightness in the bottom right part takes a little bit of the focus away from the main artifact.
