i think...I shall dive into waters unkwown....when the deal was made for art supplies in trade for one of my original drawings...my DA brother sent me a very large drawing pad ...and of course my TOOLS of the trade for a doolder such as I , tools I'd never known!
...Ive played with the tools and become comfortable,,,,but dont ...go near...the large expensive BIG drawing tablet...so much bigger then the dollar store scetch books and computer paper I drew on before the day I recieved our barter gift...
He supplied me with wondeful new grains of paper! and just the right amount of sctech pads..but not much larger then what I was used to, so only wonderful feelings under my pencil and not any anxiety at all involved
....and always..the large tablet sits on the table...staring at me.
I think ....the time has come for me to conquer ...The Tablet!
wish me luck...........
You know portraits will always be my first love and I'd love to take credit for the sky but it's from a pack by cebarre at the RMP...most excellent backgrounds, you'll see them in a lot of my pieces.
ooohhh, great profile. It makes her look very noble! I love that it is sunset. Great work. It is very hard to make it look like sunset without darkening the entire image.
Oh, a sad soldier on duty... longing for home and family maybe? Or remembering the horrors of the last battle... all in all - a beautiful, intimate look into a Spartan's soul... love the soft lighting.
I didn't plan the 'mood' in this one, it just happened and I thought it was a different look for the soldier...not just the power but the humanity. Glad you like it too hon
Gee,after all the wonderful things said, there's not much left to say. If you are bored by doing the portrait thing, try varying the camera angle (a low angle ,looking up, gives power, and a high angle, looking dow increases a vulnerable look. Experiment! How about a Carravaggio light source? If you're bored, that is..
I believe I do have something similar to the light source you suggest and it's not that I get bored, just comfortable with the familiar. I did try a different angle with my 'Howling' but I admit I do need to experiment more....thanks for the gentle nudge Doc.

Really like the pose you chose for her in the piece, not to mention the hint of female empowerment.
You're welcome!
