yeah everyone keep voting we're getting loads of updated on the radio abotu the polls in america (i'm in australia)

but one thing i didn't realise.

your country actually doesn't really want you to vote. and by that i mean it is a complete bitch to have to vote.

in australia there are LOADS of venues where you can vote. usually churches or halls or libraries and it takes like 10 minutes at most to drive (or walk) to the venue and even less time to vote.

what is with all this line talk! i had no idea people had to line up for hours on end just to vote.

it reminds me of photos of people lining up for hours or days in africa.

well good on you for lining up to vote! i adore you all who are voting.

Well, record people came out to vote this time. Usually there aren't this many. I went at 6am and I didn't have to wait more than five minutes.

It probably depends on the population density / voter turnout expectations / money and resources available in a certain area. Many places did have unprecedented turnout, after all.

I'm living on a college campus and one of the liberal hubs of the state, so we had a toooon of voting venues just within a 5 or 10 mile radius. I had friends who voted during their half hour breaks between classes, and I saw two voting venues literally one street block away from each other. xD;

13+ years in the US and they still won't give me citizenship for another couple months. Thank you, 9/11.

i still would've been tempted to write in hillary clinton anyway. ): healthcareee.

ergh that sucks. at least you're not trying to get into australia! it's totally impossible. you have to pick or pack fruit for 2 years to even be considered.

weird.

but good luck with your citizenship!

I'd vote if I was 18, but that's still a couple years away. Oh well. Our school did a mock vote, and McCain won by 20 votes. I was surprised, since near the beginning of the election, everyone was wearing Obama stickers and shirts and pins.

I hate that I'm old enough to take an interest in politics, but not old enough to vote :( I'll be eighteen next October!! If I could vote, I'd vote Obama. And, of course, all those props. The one I take interest in the most, of course, being Prop 8 (And obviously NO on Prop 8).

This is a lot of my friends first time voting and some of them are still undecided. Urgh! Its so frustrating seeing as I wrote four political reports (two on Obama, one on McCain, and one on Palin), watched most of the debates, and bothered to do research.

I certainly hope Americans older than me will make the right choices that I can't make just yet!

Apparently Republicans don't hang out on the internet as much as Democrats. The count for McCain on the website in America is much lower than the polls that were conducted.

I'm considering the idea of gouging one or more of my eyes out if McCain-Palin win. Because if McCain wins, Palin wins. I don't have enough money for an assassin. :(

:D Luckily, it won't be my vote that fucks this thing up.

Yay for Oregonians! Voted last week--in a small group. We got to research and debate about each politician's and measure's pros and cons before voting. But yeah, we stayed away from the Presidential talk. That takes serious research on your own time!

Just got back from voting. Took me over an hour to vote in SF, CA due to the machine being so full of votes by 10:30 AM that it shut off saying the polls were closed. Ha! Waited until it worked and got my ballot in. Never seen that before.
Love the story link and the world vote link and voted there too.
