Chapter 1: Wish you were Here
The bus drove along the bumpy deserted road as Nathanael rode it towards freedom. He could scarcely believe it. He was finally out of that hellhole from where he spent the last year of his life.
He recalled the day they announced that he would be on parole. He remembered feeling ecstatic. He rode that high throughout the rest of his stay in prison. Thoughts of freedom jumbled around in his head as he lay wide awake on his prison bed. Even through all the torments of the prison, he couldn’t stop smiling.
On his last night of prison, he did not get any sleep at all. He was so happy to be gone from this place. His elation only rose as he was escorted through the beige-painted cinderblock hallway to the exit. The officers gave him a box with all the stuff that he had when he first came in.
